Won't do you any good. All hotfixes are password protect with different passwords. Have to call MS for the password...unless you have a Cray and feel like brute forcing the things.....

640X480 has been removed. It's only available by going into the Advanced tab of your Display properties. Then go to Adapter and then List All Modes. Now double-click on your res. QuickRes/Multires might list it but I am unsure. Nice huh? Thanks Microsoft! ;( Trust Microsoft to make a resolution obsolete.

For the old DOS gamers: OpenGL ports of CLASSICS!

Terminal Velocity works fine in Connectix Virtual PC. In 2k/XP DOS box it'll run but the graphics are very shaky. Also of course no VESA. -
I don't know why people always comment on 2k being slower than XP. Do you guys not set up things right or something? Benchmarks and the "feel" between 2k/xp has always been the same with XP coming out under 2k as being slower in the "feel" category. I'm a very objective person and have been doing this stuff since the C64 days so I'm pretty confident in my ability to analyze OS differences. Therefore I believe that my judgement is correct.

ForceAspi is the best way to install. Works for 9x/NT using batch files. Just click on a batch file to install/uninstall.

There are a number of unofficial patches for Falcon 4.0 to bring it up to date. I doubt they are on the official company website. I do not have the game but I have heard of them. A search on www.google.com would likely find what you are looking for.

For a minute you had me laughing....but then I noticed it was fake.

Same performance for me....but I can't due much testing due to the "infinite loop". Haven't tried the VIA register patch yet.

Remove /fastdetect from your boot.ini

Download the latest Compatibility Update from Windows Update. IIRC, It includes specific fixes for those 2 games.

400 work in 2000 37 do not Also due to the "infinite loop" bug in XP my XP list is on hold.

Just ordered 3 of those 80GB Maxtor DMA/133's and a new Pioneer DVD drive. Oughta keep me happy for a week....2 if I stretch it.

Overall in terms of perfection it would have to be my Asus V8200 Deluxe Geforce 3 Ti500 :p

My FSB is set to 133 and then the option below where you can up the mhz by increments is to to 22mhz. Voltage is 1.85 and CPU temp hangs around 40C. Also be aware that at that FSB even if your memory is CAS2 and rated for PC150 and even tho they should be able to go much higher it depends on the memory/mobo chipset. With this VP6/Corsair PC150 CAS2 I HAVE to set my CAS to 3 otherwise MemTestx86 goes NUTS! All other memory options are set to the max.

Last time I tried Madden 2002 in Windows 2000 the menu options would cycle extremely fast with no way to pick them. heh.

Load up the console at the main menu and type in R_SMP 1 It's not that I "want" an AMD duallie. It's that there's nothing else out there. I want to wait for the 2nd gen mobo's for the Athlon MP's (DMA/133,USB 2.0,problems fixed) Also 8x AGP would be nice but on that note so would Serial ATA. Obviously I can't wait too long. But I've had this Dual 1ghz for about 6+ months and it's starting to get a little long in the tooth. All my games play fine. In fact I recently finished AVP 2 and I played it through at 1600X1200 with all options and it played great but I am bored and unfortunately this mobo/processor has reached it's overclocking limit. 155mhz FSB/ 1166mhz processor. (The processer/FSB can go higher but the memory cannot and things start acting flaky after 155) Also those low memory benchmark scores although they don't mean much in RL are starting to make a difference nowadays. I can probably get away with this machine for another month or 2 but hey! It's December! Me need Christmas presents!

I'd recommend a 2000/XP dual-boot. XP will need a long while for it's problems to be ironed out. Oddly enough mainly because it's so similar to 2000!

Hmm, another game to chalk up on my list for excessive memory usage. Nasty. Are developers getting lazy these days? The excessive use of memory in AVP2 led to alot of crashes and disk thrashing on my system (sometimes the game exceeded 650+ (when I was looking...may have gone higher when not). Good thing I hav 768mb of ram!

Well before for a looonnngg time Quake 3 would lock up at least once or twice when I did my benchmarking. Through this latest round of benchmarks and some others that I have done recently it has not. Mabye it's the combination of the 1.30 update for Quake 3 and the 22.80+ drivers. I'll do some more testing tonight to make sure. Hopefully the next Doom will take better advantage of SMP. As you can see any advantage that Q3 gives in SMP is gone after 1280X1024. Nowadays 1280X1024 is my MINIMUM resolution for gaming. I game now at 1600X1200. When I get the time I'm going to go through all of my benchmarks again and study the minimum FPS of games in a study on wether I should dish out some more money on another rig just for gaming. (I won't do it. I need one single machine for my users...but heck this study will be interesting and will keep me busy). Also I'm itching for some more speed. Those Athlon MP 1900's are just waiting for me...... Then I will have 2 Duallie rigs! MUAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!

Well if I could run it..... I've been using XP since the first beta all the way up to the RTM. It's only the RTM that's had the "infinite loop" problems. That's why 2000 is still my main OS. Also due to the frustrations of dealing with the small oddities in XP that I don't feel like wasting my time on.

Can I delete these **.000 files?
DosFreak replied to Jackson_san's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Usually yes. Have you ever used MSBACKUP, Doublespace/Drivespace, or Geoworks? -
Yep, with the 22.80's and 23.10's the computer locks but the cursor can still be moved. No blue screen but the computer is locked.
