It's been worked on for more than a year but it's still not done. Forgot the exact link but there it only one opengl port of Duke. Look around on google. Last time I checked you could not interact with the game itself but only travel through the game in clipping mode.

Hmmmm, r u using DHCP? If so go into the network properties of each workstation and make sure that the unselected network settings are blank of all settings. Make sure that no IP settings are specified. It seems to me that these workstations aren't joined to the domian. Are you sure you've added them? Right-click on my computer. Properties. Computer Name.

Since I'm a cop for this month I am veeeeeeerrryyy bored. So I went up to the store and bought a PCGamer mag (December). Noticed a short blurb about XP in there (not too good of one in fact....) anyways halfway throught it I was thinking "You know...it's high time a magazine mentioned NTCompatible." Well, what do you know? At the very end they mention NTCompatible!

Nope. I'm in the USAF. Unfortunately due to the events of Sept 11 our Threatcon changed to Bravo which means that our security had to be beefed up. Unfortunately this means that since the MP's are so short-manned that they drag those of us from our normal jobs kicking and screaming into being a cop for 30+ days. Fortunately my day's are almost over with. 5+ to be exact! and I will once again be back with my lovely....lovely computer. YAY! Stupid cops.

If you've added the computer names ahead of time using server manager. Then delete them. Only add computers to the domain from the workstations themselves. I've had no end of phone calls from Help Desk techs adding computers to the domain using Server Manager for a quick fix instead of doing it from the workstation.

Yes and far more. 9x does too but will error out. A simple fix is listed in the MS knowledge base.

Day of the Tentacle works fine right off the disc in Windows 2000/XP. 1. Simply install the game. 2. If uncompressing from a compressed archive then make sure that the "read-only" attribute it unchecked for all files. 3. Set up the proper sound values. For builtin XP sound: SFX: SB16 Port 220 IRQ 5 8bit DMA 1 MUSIC: General Midi For VDMSound (works in 2000/XP): SFX: SB16 Port 220 IRQ 7 8bit DMA1 16bit DMA 5 Music: Adlib/General Midi/Roland I recommend using VDMsound for better sound quality. Try both anyway. 4. Now just run the game. No configuration of memory should be necessary unless you've messed with autoexec.nt or config.nt Oh and delete any .PIF files in the game directory before using any of these instructions.

Don't use glsetup. It's far simpler to simply download the appropriate drivers for your video card from the video card manufacturer. That way you know where they came from. What version they are and if they are certified. It's highly doubtful that the ones in the terrible glsetup program are.

Isn't this already included in the PowerToys for XP? I like individual downloads that are not included in a package but I'm sure that it is.

You will. Replaced my Hercules 3D Prophet 3 (Geforce 3) with an Asus (dangit forgot all the gobblegook) Deluxe Ti500. Still get the same infinite loop problem.

Which Service Pack are you running? Install SP6a.

Strange. These guys don't see your improvement: http://www.tech-report.com/reviews/2001q4/os/index.x?pg=7 and I haven't seen it yet. I'll do some more tests when I get home.

You can delete that if you wish but remember.... if a program overwrites an important system file and the cache folder isn't there then your system is dead and you'll have to repair your installation. If you had left it alone then the the system file would have been restored..... Guess it depends on how far you wish to go for space/stability....

Thanks for the link to that thread. I've been EXTREMELY busy for the past 2 weeks and will continue to be for the next 2. So during this time I only have access to my home computer for about 2 days in the week. Due to all the catching up I have to do in Computer stuff during that time I haven't played around with XP for about 2 weeks. ALL of the fixes listed in that thread I tried when I installed the final of XP Pro sometime last month. None of it worked. I haven't bothered with XP since then (although I MIGHT tonight). Oh, It's most definetly not the VIA GART because I switched that out first thing with the 4-in-1's when I experienced the problem. It still happened. Never had this problem with any of the RC's. Also tried with ACP Multi/MPS Multi. (Only reason I list these 2 is because they are scarcely mentioned in the link you posted.) This is an XP/NVIDIA problem that the 2 companies need to work together on. It's extremely doubtful that we will find a fix. Well, I'm off to my home to consider on wether on not I should waste my time on the POS that is XP!

Reverting back to Standard PC will fix this problem. Try flashing your motherboard bios first and see of that fixes your problem.

I know NAV Corp integrates with Outlook...dunno about Outlook Express.

1. Turn off Hibernation 2. Turn off System Restore. 3. Tweak your pagefile. 4. Go into the \Windows\INF directory. Open SYSOC.INF. Remove all the HIDE words. Save the file. Go into Add/Remove programs and remove programs. 5. Delete the HELP directory. 6. Delete the wallpaper/media files.

For gods sake this Gametheater XP is pissing me off...

Try turning down the sound acceleration to the second notch from the left. Even with the new drivers I have to do this. With the Live 5.1 and the latest drivers I still have to do this. I only hope that with the Audigy that I will not.....but I doubt it. -
Basically just use the defaults for normal programs. For heavy duty video work or other programs that access the hard drive greatly then specifying a higher cluster size will increase performance at the expense of disk space. OS/Games do not take advantage of a higher cluster size.
