I think that is a Nvidia TNT2 card, right? Did you do a full uninstall of the W2K default drivers first? Use Standard VGA Adapter, remove everything that has to do with nv* in your system32 directory (besides the usual "uninstall"). Make sure your card has an IRQ available, and you don't have any conflicts.

Im not sure many of us have a FireGL in our boxes, man...Try the games in OpenGL mode, with everything set to 32bit...textures, everything. Your display too. I don't have more ideas

Dunno about that one...I got the Epox 8KHA, and it rockz. Rock stable, good for O/Cing but never tried it The new rev., the KHA+ is supposed to be even better, it has some memory bandwidth improvements due to the new chipset KT266A

Yup, it's not a joke..read here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/55/22613.html

Yea man, makes you wonder why the called it Duke Nukem FOREVER, muhahahahha.
-
LOL, back where we started from...

As far as I know, it's not advisable to start opening the thing up, thus losing your warranty. If you are still in warranty, take the damn thing back dude, don't mess with it. Let DELL figure it out for you...

Wait a minute... Depending on the positioning of the fan, blowing and sucking can mean the same thing, lol. By blowing y'all mean blowing INTO the heatsink, sucking from air OR Blowing into the air, sucking from the heatsink...? Clarify this matter.
-
Unfortunately, I don't... Anyone else?

If you look at the small leaflet you got with it (if you got any), you'll see how it's done. Otherwise look on the base of the fan, you'll see the arrows one has to point up/down the other left/right. You figure out the airflow from that...

Remember that Multiword DMA is NOT the same as UDMA 1,2,3,4, or 5 (last being ATA100). I suggest you leave it then in PIO mode 4, that is more than enough for the stream of data the drive passes on.

Lol, they've advertised DELL in the new movie with Travolta: Swordfish, muhahah. First the laptop (wicked scene btw ), then the server racks in the bank... Usually they show Macs in movies, but I guess they don't have a server solution...

Ya that makes sense...

Lolz... Actually COunterStrike is a quite hard shoot-em up mod. One shot can kill, it's a weird feeling playing CS after 2-3 hours UT or Q3A. It feels like you're crawling The weapons are more realisically modelled (physics esp.), probably turned over a bit to the l4me side since CS 1.3... Nevertheless, I would LOVE to see a team based game, some big scale thing. Something like Asheron's Call from Microsoft, I don't know if you guys know that. The maps are HUGE, it takes literarly 6-7 hours to travel the island from North to South in realtime... With the broadband "coming to a home near you" I would like to see more mature online gaming, better stories and quests, with the accent more on Teamplay. Something that will make TeamFortress look like DOOM compared to Unreal2

Did all of you guys get problems AFTER a RAM upgrade? Let's try to get a common factor here...
-
Maybe if you install the Via 4-in-1 you will get UDMA enabled? Just a hint... And leave your IDE Controller settings on Auto in BIOS, it should detect the right speed. What does it say when it posts?

No, I ment the W2K drivers from 3Com...I mean they HAVE to have some kinda drivers for a product of theirs, right? lol
-
Man, I don't know what the hell kinda components tey build into Dell nowadays. Post your 'puter specs first of all, with all driver versions... And I suggested you bark at Dell $upport not at Microsoft's They shoved a support deal down your throat, did they not?
-
Is that a Plug and Play model? Damn, I can't believe Microsoft did not include drivers for every 3Com card out there. You think you get qwality when you throw big cash for a 3Com NIC, but it looks like you get phucked over sometimes. Pretty much all no-names, based on the Realtek chipsets are recognized (except in lame a$$ BeOS). Try and see if the W2K drivers work...
-
Drivers you mean? The V7700 is a GeForce2 chipset based solution from Asus, right? You can use the reference drivers from the chipset manufacturer itself, Nvidia, at http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=drivers If you have problems with the 21.83 version, try the older ones, like 12.41 or 12.90. You can find those at www.reactorcritical.com

What do you want to do exactly? Reinstall ACPI? Why would you do that in the first place? Try to change the Computer Type to StandardPC and then maybe back to ACPI. The first part works but Im not sure about the second... Anyways if you need to reinstall, then press F5 i think when it asks for 3rd Party drivers in the setup, and select Standard PC.

Same thing on my machine too, it takes a while to load all the tray icons, but not even close to a full 30 sec. I also noticed that (even with NAV 2002) if I unplug the Cat5 cable from the DSL modem at boot (or before logging in) everything starts faster!? It's an external modem, needs no drivers, I dial over a PPPoE connection straight into the Access Concentrator.
-
Well, there's no point in barking at you for buying from Dell, cos the fact is already consumed...I hope you learn from it. How about you demand from Dell the support that you deserve?
-
What burning software are you using? Is it a CDR or a CDRW?
-
Sounds like a bad media. Or a bad drive.
