Probably you put too much thermal paste on the core, you only need to put a drop in the middle. You can tell from the print on the cooler bottom if it was too much or too less. It happened with me on a TBird C @ 1333, it ran at 68 celsius after 10 min, then i couldnt even install windows (got VxD errors). Got the cooler off, cleaned the bottom, applied 1 drop of thermal, and i've been running the same CPU for 2 months now problem free. Temp around 41 Celsius after several hours.

It simply rocks... www.trillian.cc Supports MSN Messenger/ICQ/AIM/Yahoo!/IRC, skinnable as well, XP compatible. Where do you want to go today?
-
Yea, I couldnt figure out how to do file x-fers either, but that doesnt bother me...less open ports to worry about U can use FTP for that, and you have more control over it. On the other hand, what I find cool is that the DCC chats are encrypted. As far as the memory needed goes, I dont think it takes as much RAM as ICQ/AIM/Yahoo/IRC/MSN together, lol. For me it only took about 10 MB...Almost as much as ICQ by itself, if you come to think about it. Such a tool is already available for Linux, so it was a matter of time before a Windoze version creeped up.

Try this program at: www.trillian.cc An all-in-one messaging and chat tool, supports ICQ/MSN/AIM/Yahoo/IRC

****, i should read the whole post, from the first line to the last...my bad. Still I have no clue what's happening with this guy's connection.
-
Yea, here we go: MY XP IS BIGGER THAN YOURS, lol Nah, really mine is "normal" I would say, around 1 GB. The hibernation file does not reside in the WIndows directory, tho, its in the C: root, and is as big as your RAM. Plus the swap...that can reach 2 GB..i think. Cleaning the "My Documents" folder of unnecessary **** might do as well

Hmm, have u tried to plug one end in the socket and the other in your ***? Muhauhahahahaaha

Nero 5.5.4.0 works without any layers on XP, probably the new version as well (5551). WinOnCD does not like XP at all, I dont think there is anyone who got it working. CDRWin and Fireburner work only after installing an ASPI layer. Any more questions?
-
Hey, maybe the stuff you try to scan is Macrovision protected Must be a driver problem...incompatibility
-
Hmm, something definately wrong here...IRQ 17,18,19???? Anyone have any idea what this guy is talking about? Sometimes I wish I had this many IRQs...

Oh well, so be it then... ====================================================== SUN Microsystems Enterprise Class 10000 (aka E10000) 48 UltraSparcII 450 MHz CPUs 16 Mainboards w/4 CPUs/board 4 GB RAM/board -> 64GB Ram Total 106 TB Storage 16 Logical Domains Many Logical Hosts... ------------------------- Too bad I can't even run SETI@Home on this baby.... Every second of processing time has to be accounted for (ie.paid). I bet this can produce an impressive number of WU, lol...

I dont have enough experience with non Creative soundcards. I owned an Aztech Waveride 32+ about 4-5 years ago, anyone remember the card? Wavetable was cool, huh, huh. It did the job until I fried it by mistake about 2 years ago, when I bought an AWE64 (i miss the internal amp.), and now moved to a SBLive XGamer. I dont have major problems with it, except that W2K doesn't see both outputs unless I install LiveWare. If u're going low on budget, have you ever considered the McDonald's around the corner? At least I would have, in my college days...
-
I know that in W2K same thing happened after I enabled the fax server (service). Could that be it?
-
Yes I had to install the new ASPI layer, i had it laying on my HDD somewhere. Fireburner works now, but CDRWin not (doesnt recognize my burner - Liteon 1210B)

The Fileplanet link...they had a server online that did not have any1 queued. I will try to post it somewhere else, and I'll let u know,

VOODOO IS BEAT....face it and shut up. **** happens, move on.
-
Man that sounds wicked... First of all post your specs, along with the IRQ listing (if u're not running ACPI). It might be a conflict between soundcard and NIC. Does it happen only with AudioCDs or with any audio? More details please, dont be greedy, esp.if you want to get a decent answer

Go get yourself a new card before you waste more time and nerves with the old stuff. Already here in Europe you can get a SB Live 5.1 (bulk) for approx. US$40 Go figure...
-
Thats the old version you have posted there...the 1.4, it doesnt run on XP.I have finally managed to dload the new one (2.0) and it worked.

Pretty Goddamn dumb topic i might say... sad attempt at coming up with a record # of posts, or what? Or just some kiddie muscle flexing

Some quotes from the Extreme website: Q:Are there any giveaways? A:Each attendee will be given a t-shirt at the end of the event in exchange for their completed evaluation form. Q:Do we get free software? A:No, there will not be any free software given out to attendees at eXtreme. There will be a raffle at the end of the event for several copies of Microsoft software You are really a lucky raffle winner, son.

Is your DVD drive RPC1 or 2? If its 2, then u can patch the firmware and forget about software fiddling.

Partition Magic 7.0 is XP Compatible, version 6.0/6.1 are NOT. Use at own risk. BTW, can anyone explain me how did PM7 partition an unallocated 51 GB space in 2 partitions AND formatted them in less than 15 seconds?
-
The newer version that goes around (v2.0) supposedly supports XP. I'm not sure, but I think I ran the older version in W2K compatibility mode and it installed just fine I tried to dload the new one from Fileplanet, but I just got pissed off with their queuing. Does anyone know an alternative URL?

As far as I know, the 5.1 series of cards aren't fully supported or have the full driver implementation in XP (with the default XP drivers). You have to wait (and pray) until Creative decides to release XP compatible drivers (and/or LiveWare). I have SBLive XGamer (no 5.1) and seems to work ok with the default drivers.
