If you could upgrade just 1 thing in your system what would
Palos replied to INFERNO2000's topic in Slack Space
I would upgrade the PCI bus to a gigabit interface, and get rid of the old "legacy" crap that slows everything down. -
I was thinking of buying this card, as an upgrade from my actual GF2-MX400. I heard it's a very good gfx card on paper, but it's haunted by badly written drivers. Does anyone have any experience with it?

U talking about the KPNQwest employees, right?

Who cares about the gfx engine, the game had the BEST A.I in the world when it came out, some of the "new" games this year are still way worse than HL when it came out. And CS is the #1 online game in the world by the way Which points out that graphics are not everything... Maybe some developers should listen, and stop packing 6-7 CDs with nice graphics and $hit gameplay.

Are u willing to take the risk? I wouldn't...

If the Voodoo supports Fog Table Emulation, then make sure it's selected.

It looks like a beast on paper, I want to see some benchmarks of this puppy I guess it will all boil down to well written drivers (as usual), and support for Opensource development. Matrox can start things they probably didn't think of (remember the "killer" app/hardware factor in the Linux revival?). It would be a miracle to see some apps exclusively developed for Linux, that take advantage of the many features on this card....
-
I have one of those too...plays w/o sound. Someone recommended a "Nimo Codec Pack" or something...didn't try it yet.
-
It will be a matter of months before Matrox can mass produce the stuff, and flood the shelves. The card is NOT out anywhere yet, noone has even an engineering sample to run some benchmarks on it. We will just have to wait...

I had that "unmountable boot device" BSOD in WinXP too, packman. There is a patch already out somewhere...

And yes, it will include the same custom system config as in XP SP1. As far as I understand, the option will enable you to "deactivate" certain M$ stuff, like Outlook, IE, Mediaplayer. What I don't understand is why isn't there an option to DEINSTALL them???? Who cares about deactivation in the first place.... Personally I would leave IE as the default browser, I have nothing against it. This whole Legal litigation, States against M$, will only show us how SAD the competition's products are.

How come TNT is not listed in here?

http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/internet/05/27/terror.surveillance.ap/index.html I think this serves a higher purpose than to filter for keywords and accounts at different ISPs across the world. They know that it is virtually impossible to pinpoint a suspicious activity based on eavesdropping and log analysis, for the following reasons: - To anaylise all the info in "realtime" as they boast, then u need some serious storage and computing power, which Im not so sure they can allocate for such daily actions. - The evildoers are for sure trained to use encryption for messaging, which again takes many, many MIPS to crack. They also probably employ codewords or common passphrases to transmit information. A mail from "Jack to Gill stating that the Baby is waiting home to be fed" won't raise many eyebrows... - IF they catch or notice anything, it will be most likely sheer luck. What they intend to do with all our emails, internet surfing habits, clickstreams and all this...I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. The whole thing makes me wonder where are we heading, as the world in a couple of decades doesn't look good.

Did you install all the i845D drivers? Like the Intel .ini or the AGP drivers?

What HDD you have? What filesystem does it use for the primary partition(NTFS, FAT32)? Does the board have a RAID controller?

When an object moves fast across the screen, it generates automatically a motion blur effect. I think it's an overkill to implement that in hardware, and what would be the benefit of it anyway????

Just read that SP1 is ready for shipping to the Beta testers in a matter of days. The list of available pre-SP1 hotfixxes are found here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/servicepacks/windows/xp/pre-sp1_hotfixes.asp
