I just got an irritating error. My keyboard is typing wrong keys. When I press 1 it comes up with "1|" 2 = 2 3 = 3 4 = 45 5 = 45 and so on with all number keys. no number keys work with shift. It's like on both win2k and win98 AND EVEN DOS Mabe it's the keyboard that is nearly dead.. It's a compaq keyboard. Aopen ax34 geforce sound blaster live +++ Any comments

Hi. I don't think you can overclock any tnt/g-force cards by powerstrip. I am also looking for an application to overclock my g-force pro DDR card. Now I use creative drivers on w2k.

Hi all. Does any of you know how I can call up my internet-connection with 64k, and just click Status+Details in the monitor-icon and resume with 128k (Double-line). And without disconnect with the first line. A mate of me have no problem doing that in win2k(don't know what card he has). I use an ASUSCOM ISDNlink 128k card on Win2k build 2195.

In win98 I could have a nice desktop without the stupid icons "My Computer, My Network Places and Recycle Bin". In win2k I can't find the same option.

Sometimes when a program crash, my harddrives goes nuts for a couple minutes, and I have to delete a f* file somewhere in C: . When my programs crash, I want them to quit immediately. Could I get serious problems doing that? [This message has been edited by Hellstorm (edited 31 March 2000).]

At first, the retail drivers seems to work. Now I almost always get a black screen when loading half-life, quake 3 or unreal tournament. Sometimes I can start the game, but if i try to change the player, controls or graphic driver then the black screen comes up again. the hard-drive is working for about 10s-1min after the black screen is popping up. Seems like my machine has problem initializing or something with the opengl. Glide seems to work. The games work fine in win98 but when booting in win2k, the problem is back. And i do not have gfx-drivers in the game-directories. Have anyone had luck with some spesific drivers for voodoo3 3000? I think that i will go back to beta-drivers, but how do i uninstall the 3dfx-f*****g drivers. (Do anyone want to buy a voodoo3 3000 pci card verry cheaply????) or maby all the other cards is so much hated as my voodoo3? I just get crazy. I have win98se Norwegian Version using Programfiler as Prog-Dir, and win2k 2195 English Version on the same drive. Are my win98 and win2000 having [censored] or something? In spite of that I have the file "taskmon.exe" located only one place on my hd: "C:\Windows\Taskmon.exe", win2k executes this file on startup. WHY??? Why? There is absolutely nothing in my startup-folder, and no files on my hd contains "taskmon.exe". The same s**t with a windows-explorer window that pops up within the startup of win2k. Where on my computer is the information to start these files stored? I am sure someone else have had theese problems, coz this is the second time I have installed win2k (not just upgraded, but really installed with format c . The problem is almost the same like on the other install. It's not REALLY freaking me out, but it is VERY irritating that I can't control my OS. Hopes...

Try the disable the different other sounds in "Sounds and Multimedia" and hear if your sound has been disabled. Maybe the spesific program has preferences-panels that you can edit? Hellstorm [This message has been edited by Hellstorm (edited 05 March 2000).]

I can't update Opposing Force, because when I try to update, I get the error message: Half-Life Opposing Force is not installed on the system. But I have installed it several times, and with the same error-message. What shall I do?? Please Help. I run Windows 2000 2195.

Use control panel, "Sounds and Multimedia". Change the "start navigation"-sound to "None" and there will be a magic silence.

Hi I have some questions: 1: I Used HzTools and saved Configuration with too high refreshrates, and can't see the screen even with safe mode. 2: Does anyone know about a program that works like a mouse-blanker when pressing a key. (Both win2000 and win98) 3: And a program to disable the caps-lock key (also both win2000 and win98) And for the tip: I always have been irritating myself for that low refresh-rate on the mouse-pointer. Then I installed the newest Logitech mouse-drivers and now I can set the refresh-rate up to 200 (standard 40) (The mouse is flying). You should be careful with mouse-drivers and maby have a serial-mouse in reserve. (Install the serial-mouse before changing the mouse-drivers) From Hellstorm.

I have an AMD k6-2 400 + voodoo3 3000, 128 Mb RAM and win2k 2195. and I also have the same problem with half-life, unreal tournament and quake3 (quit to desktop no errors). I have a feeling that it's the drivers, couse I haven't had the problem before upgrading to 1.0 retail drivers.

Can anyone explain why the start-menu gets messed up with arrows and fields that is reachable only when I press the arrow? And I have to press the arrow to view the lighter fields. I feel that it has to do about last time I accessed the file, but I am not sure. Has anyone get rid of this bug (or no-bug)?

Thank You! I was nearly going crazy about it. Microsoft? Did u set this as default???? But is there anyone that have got any clues about removing these two bugs ;( Everytime windows 2000 starts, there comes a explorer-windows as a pop-up over whole the screen. Nothing in my Startup-folder. Perhaps there is a .ini file or something I can edit so I get rid of it. And the last thing is the task manager. I seem to have lost the menu-buttons on the top. I reinstalled (update) windows 2000 (2195), but nothing happened. Do I really have to re-install the whole thing again (win2k)? I really hope this is a regular bug...

Hi and thanks for the reply. I have the original CD's Half-life and Opposing force (no warez) Should I install Half-Life another time? I installed Half-life 1.0 and I updated half-life with 1.0.1.5 patch from the cd, and then the 1.0.1.6 patch. And then I installed opposing force. When I try to use the opfor1001.exe patch i get the error message. Any clues?

I installed Win98 Drivers for Via Agp for a while ago, and the only way to fix everything afterwards, was to install win2000 again. So don't install them....
