Soz it's taken me so long to check back here. I only got it installed and ran it (FAT32 SHS) as an exercise in 'candoitedness.' I don't much care for racing games that don't involve massive destruction (Carmageddon makes me giggle (humans are so wierd)), so I couldn't even tell you if I got it running in HW acceleated mode or not. ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Yep. But I fixed it. Open your Control Panel and then open the Quicktime applet. In the drop down list select 'Sound Out.' Change your device from DirectSound to waveOut. That's all. worked for me... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Against all my better instincts, I'm adding to this thread. Firstly. How is this topic hardware related? This thread belongs in the 'Other' forum. Secondly. As much I agree with (or see the point of) most of the posts in this thread, we need to be careful. Let's say there's a rich young man with money to burn and not an ounce of sense in his head. He goes to a store to buy the best operating system he can. A salesman (smiling shark-like at his luck) sells him Win2k Adv. Server. The rich rube heads home and with the help of several impatient and more technology-aware friends gets it installed as a dual boot with his existing operating system (Win 98), because his friend's tell him (rolling their eyes) that the new operating system might not run all his applications and games. Eventually, tired of answering his incessant questions, they point him here for advice and consultation. Once he gets here, does he tell us his entire history? No. Does he tell us that he really doesn't know what's going on? No. Do we have anyway whatsoever to differentiate him from a pirate? No we do not. Now that's a pretty far-fetched scenario, but not impossible. My point is that we have no right to sit in judgement of the members of this board. We simply don't have all the information we need to accurately assess the situation. To actively point out to anyone that they are undeserving of help because we suspect them of piracy would make us guilty of hubris, not to mention be rude and exclusionary. If you suspect someone of piracy, then don't reply to their message. Plain and simple. Otherwise we'll end up with a witch hunt on our hands and that always ends in the destruction of at least one innocent. ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Change your shortcut's target to "X:\nfshs.exe" -patchrestart (where x:\ represents the application path and nfshs.exe represents whatever the executable is actually named)... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Which version of EZ CD Creator? If it's version 4, there's a 4.01 patch on the Adaptec web site that worked for me. If it's not version 4 then you are out of luck, soz mate. ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw* [This message has been edited by PraetorJudis (edited 02 March 2000).]

ThC 129, I respectfully request you to zip into a single file for those of use who aren't bandwidth impaired. If not, no biggie. ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Just an FYI folks, this is the 15 MB version, not the 70... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Gracias, Shrink. That is to say, grazie, danke, tack, merci, agradecimento, okagesamade, asante, köszönöm, and taing! I now have EAx support! Woohoo!! ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Want my advice? Get US West to switch to to an external DSL modem. It's a lot easier to configure, support, etc, etc, etc. I know that isn't the immediate answer to your problem, but it's not a bod long term answer... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Well, I have four speaker support with ACPI, but no EAX... ah well... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Of course you are Nova. I wasn't trying to stir up trouble or dictate to your sense of humor. I think on some level I thought you meant funny 'peculiar' and not funny 'ha ha.' I'm in a grim mood today. It's rubbing off on everything... ew... Pax? ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Nova, that isn't funny, it's called marketing. It happens all the time. Remember when Bill Gates said thathe didn't see MS getting into the internet? Now look at them... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

I've also heard rumblings about the new drivers not working well on all systems... It may be best to wait a bit before installing them. Does anyone have positive or negative things to report about them? ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Where in the registry? There are certain NT registry key you can't see without taking certain steps... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Do you have all the proxy settings correct? It has to be a problem with the way your network/internet connection is configured. W9x took a few things for granted that you have to specify in W2k. I know it can do it, because it is on my system... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Thanks for setting such a great example for them to find when they get here... *grin* ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Unstable? What build are you running? I've got W2k professional running on three seperate computers (one is a K-62 system) with absolutely no problems whatsoever! I'm even using beta drivers for my Voodoo 3 and SB Live! card on one of the machines. I'm running with multiple monitors, SCIS and IDE drives, a Wacom Art Pad, USB mouse keyboard and scanner. The only 'issue' I've had with W2K is at work where I've had file lock problems with FoxPro 2.5 for DOS. No surprise there, a 16-bit db app running across a LAN with bloated tables containing ten years of information is bound to cause problems on any 32-bit operating system. Unstable. Humph. I'm tired of people coming to Windows forums to show how anti-Microsoft they are. I don't care how anti-Microsoft you are, just don't come here to flaunt it, please. ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

I've got it running on a Compaq Deskpro P550 with an AGP Matrox G200, as well as a Gateway G(somehting)400, with an AGP Voodoo 3 2000. No problems at all... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Hrm... eh.. dunno exactly. I even forget where I found information that making the switch would help. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I had ACPI installed? I removed the ACPI stuph to get my new SBLive card woking (sort of working that is), perhaps I should switch my BIOS again and see what happens.... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

The SoF demo recongnized the extra two buttons without the 'map to a keyboard key' step used for older games... Coo'. Life just gets easier and easier. ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*

Yep. Two displays will work. I've only tried it with a Voodoo 3 2000 AGP and a 3D Rage II PCI however. I attempted to add another PCI card (a cheapo Trident or S3 Virge (I don't recall wchich one I grabbed out of my "Box o' Stuph")) to no avail, but that could be my BIOS and not W2K. If you are using a AGP/PCI mix, you have to set your BIOS to poll the PCI card first, or it won't work correctly... ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw*
