Interesting... I haven't personally ever even read the Adaptec newsgroups... Maybe there are only a few selected ones who get this feature in their drivers Or maybe it has got something to do with hardware or... I have installed w2k twice, and both times I had the same problem... Peculiar. Let's see what happens when I buy a new DVD-drive.

Yup... I can't read cd-rw's with either one of my drives, because w2k wants to install UDFRDR always... It's not giving you any errors??? Whoa! I couldn't play dvds and when I tried to use web pages/software that was stuffed on some dvds, I'd get a BSOD... I couldn't figure out any explanation except that w2k really did think that the discs were only 2GB, and got too confused when I tried to use something that was located outside of that 2GB area But if it works fine on your computer, do keep it that way

Now that's a bit tougher question I managed to uninstall the udfreader from add/remove programs... hmm... I have to say I can't help you on that one... I hope someone else can tell an easy solution for this problem.

I had the very same problem... At first I didn't know what caused it, but the I noticed that when I looked at my DVD-rom's properties it said that file system was UDFRDR, not UDF or whatever it is that DVD-rom is supposed to have. Well, I unistalled udfreader and everything worked perfectly! I don't know if you have this problem, but check what file system is in use on your dvd-rom... Hope this is of some use

My card's been working fine for over a week now... It works even better in 2k than in 98. The only problem is that the overlay and DIB DRAW modes are slower than in 98. How about you?

Propably the easiest way to turn your windows transparent would be this little proggy... http://x.wonder.ca/stevex/nthack/transx.zip

I have this problem with WinDVD2000. It installs without any problems, but won't play any discs. It only resizes the windows like it should, and spins the DVD for a while... But after that, nothing... the only thing I see is the WinDVD2000 logo. So, if someone has a solution, please tell. Thanks.

By the way... If anybody is still reading this thread How do you reset the W2K "internal" region counter? I have region 1&2 DVDs, and because I can only use W2Ks DVDplay ,(it uses WinDVD2k, though), I can change the region only two times. If I could watch the movies with WinDVD2k, then that wouldn't be a problem, but because I have to use the W2K "frontend" dvdplayer ...

Ok, I finally got WinDVD2000 to work, sort of. The problem was Adaptecs Udfreader... For some reason W2K started to think that even DVDs are cd-rw discs... I noticed this when I looked at my DVD-drives properties, and W2K said that the file system was "UDFRDR" instead of "UDF". Well, I guess I won't be using cd-rw discs then... I wonder why W2K forces me to install that udfreader software, when I try to use cd-rw discs... Well anyways, WinDVD2000 works perfectly, well almost. Still have to do that Windows DVDplay trick... But now I can watch my DVDs.

Nope... I already tried the W2K dvd player. With it I get sound (that crackles and in Matrix even the main menu, and when I try to continue, all I can hear is the crackling sound... But after that WinDVD2K does the same... And when I reboot, everything is back to normal = WinDVD2K won't play anything. This is starting to annoy me a bit But thanks for you help, though.

What ASPI drivers should I have installed? I installed one pack from adaptecs ftp-server a couple of days ago... The strange thing is that no matter what DVD I insert Win2K says it is 2.19GB.

(C550Mhz, 256MB, GeForce...)

Yes... you can set the transparency, but it's incredibly slooow... Anyways, here is the link: http://x.wonder.ca/stevex/nthack/transx.zip
