Nothing works on USB ports in XP...please help

USB IMO is a two sided blade, one is good for overclockers; no matter how you tweak your system, it still stays at 48MHZ speed on the controller at default, but when you overdone it, especially when you have an average PSU then chances are you would run into problems with it, try check this.

New MB and existing Drive with XP on it

My installtion worked for me, when I went from a BX6 to a KT7A-RAID board, the HDD was recognised with the XP installed, just have to install the driver for the RAID controller, and every thing wents fine. HPT370 is supported in XP natively.

Does Windows XP support 512 mb of Ram?

It depends on what you are going to use on a >512MB system with win9x, because 2 to the power 32 is the limit on some program.
  7. Hope this is not off topic. I still havent figure out how to block those pop-unders, I have try explicitly defining rules to try blocking in personal irewall such as norton but fails; seems that they have not a fixed IP address. Please input your thinking, thanks.

    Windows XP repeated networking problems!

Positive, I use to have netBEUI installed on w95 to work with 9X/2K, and this might be just another cure.
  13. I know this is a bit oldie but I have to stick with what I have got present. I have diffculties connecting w95 v.1 machine with XP machine on a peer network, where can I found info on this topic? Does any piece of software is needed to install on the w95 machine to cater for the file and printer sharing with XP? Thanks.

Leaving CD's in your CD drive at all times!

On some IDE drivers I have used, putting in CD would make the drive scan for directory changes periodically. Even using fastfind is not ok.

    Video/TV Board recommendation

Please recommend a HARDWARE based MPEG-1 encoder board, with TV/FM tuner on board, and must be work with Geforce2 in W2K/XP, possibly on the cheap side. It is not needed for me to edit with an AVI file nor do I need to have MJPEG thingy. I am really interest in making my box into VDR alike. Thanks very much.

    512MB and Page File Settings

try Cacheman d/l and you can get rid of paging file completely, but be warned that winblows sucks at times when do without it. U are warned!
  17. What exactly is the difference between these tow seemingly identical mobos from ABIT, which they share the same layout, same BIOS and versions, same manual, allegedly the same VIA KT133A chipset. Thanks.

Abit KT7E is just KT7A in disguise?

cool looking, I wont go Asus if I have to upgrade, they are not worth for what they have asked for in local market. Asus is cheaper in US/Europe than Abit boards, so how are they going to charge me for higher than Abit boards of similar functions. Thanks man again.

Abit KT7E is just KT7A in disguise?

HOT off Abit website, nothing about onboard sound or graphics, it is a godsend if you can found any thing about KT133E on VIA website CPU Support AMD Athlon/Duron 700MHz ~ 1.2GHz Socket A Processors based on 200 MHz Chipset VIA KT133E /VIA 686B Memory Three 168-pin DIMM sockets support up to 1.5 GB PC100/PC133 SDRAM module BIOS SoftMenu™III Technology to set CPU parameters Multi I/O 2 Channels of Bus Master IDE Ports support Ultra DMA 33/66/100 Miscellaneous 1 AGP slot, 6 PCI slots and 1 ISA slot [KT7E] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AMD Socket A ATX Based Mainboard With Ultra DMA 100, SoftMenu™III Technology

    Disabling ACPI

Thats really screwy, it share every PCI/AGP device IRQ in your system, it makes no retreat of your likeings or not, it wont boot when you disable it if w2k installed with ACPI switched on, and it wont allow my system to install w98 when it switched off...real pain.
  21. Where can I found (if any) sound card with hard ware support for the Office XP speech recognition? Or at leat something with driver implementation in their sound card, so that I can ditch my SBliving dead. Thanks.
  22. tylau

Office XP speech recognisable sound card?

Be really careful, your MX400 and system is going to be in jeopardy when that NT CICERO loader CTFMON.exe is load and it basically hooked up all I/O devices in your system through a dll file, be very frighten!

What the h3ll does XP stand for anyway?

eXposed Privacy, definitely exposed, winblows over and over again! Are you having fun in being loyally-screwed by an "official" backdoor?

    Remote Desktop/Terminal Services

Among the first few things I will do on a final installation of XP is to disbale and throw it out of scene for as long as I could. What this is up to, makes its tiny benefit far outshadowed by too many potentially fatal threats.
