I don't get this WinMe is unstable part. Its not unstable here. Maybe I'm doing something wrong

Hi I just tried the latest version of XP with my NVIDIA GeForce2 PRO card, and I must say I didnt like what I saw. I fiexed the refreshrate thing, but performance was really crappy. In Q3A I usually pull over 100fps on the timedemo test in 1024 max, but in XP I barely got over 60. Does anyone have good performance in XP?

Ace, then Zip og Rar then Zip is very normal for things that are going to be downloaded from the net. I think it has two purposes. Two different types of packageing reduses the size maximum. And I think its easier for IE and other browsers to download zip files. On ftp's its very uncommon. Are you guys able to change the refreshrate? When I try to use NVrefreshratefix it can't recognize the videocard. And if I try to change the refreshrate myself in the inf file of the drivers, the computer wont boot after restart. Playing in 60Hz is out of the question

WinMe owns Win98 and Win XP will own Win2k

Do Mac's still only have one mouse button?

Voodoo5 card are much slower in Win2k than in Win98/Me. Unfortunately.

Hi I have a well know problem, but I don't know how to fix it. I have a Sony 10X RW under win2k but no burner program finds it. I first installed winoncd that comes with the burner. ITs a fairly new version and it is known to work. But it can't find the burner....thinks its a normal cd reader. Then installed Easy CD creator 4, but no luck there either. What do I do? Do I need some ASPI thing? or? Its a IDE writer.

Well its not usually a big deal (I have mixed them, but they run off cource on 100MHz). But you might have been unlucky. If you have a AMD type chipset they are usually more picky about ram, and rpobably more picky about mixing ram also.

After I found out how much memory (ram) Netscape use I will never tough it again. Above 20MB for 1 window. And its just adding up for each window. IE use around 10-15 per window. Opera on the other hand use around 7Mb for the first window, and 2MB for each additional window. If Opera had a password manager and a auto-form completion feature I would change from IE today. Spontaneuosly reboots are usually due to ram failure. Maybe the RAM chip is broken.

When do you freeze? While playing? or on the desktop. Since its the same problem as earlier its either the Video card or the RAM (if its the same) And do run the ram on 100MHz. I can also see that you have a lot of PCI cards. There might be a IRQ problem. If the problem continues, take out all the cards and set them in one after the other, and boot between to check if everything is ok.

Its not experienced, but experience. Its supposed to be "the Windows experience" you don't have to be experienced to use it hehe actually you can be quite stupid to use it.

EX or XP, its the same really. Its a crappy name either way.

Windows EX is gay Whistler or Windows.net is definately better. About WinMe. WinMe was released for OEM machines generally, and was not meant for users to upgrade from win98 to Me.

Hi I just tried the new 3dfx drivers on my Voodoo5. Blahh, same problem as always: In OpenGL (not a problem in Glide and D3D) the picture is totally messed up if I force another refreshrate than 60Hz. The picture is small and only a small part of the screen. And the refreshrate is 60 or something. btw I use a program to change the refreshrates. The other older driver is the same (1.04 or something) The only driver that actually works great is the first. 1.03 I think it is. That driver works great here, but it would be nice to be able to use one of the new.

Help me If I use the default Whistler drivers things work ok. I only get 16 bit, and no games work. If I install any of the 3dfx win2k drivers I get 4bit color and minimum resolution only. Anyone got a fix for this?

I removed the service pack and CS was fine again The moral: Always do a backup when you install the service packs.

I deletet my own post About IE6 I have a problem: I can't get into Windows Update anymore. And when I move the toolbars , they reset after I restart my computer. But other than that its great.

When I install the VIA 4in1 drivers I never install : bus master ultra ATA driver I did that once and my computer totally ****ed up.

I experienced something when I installed directx8A over the first dx8. When I start Half-Life the menu doesnt go fullscreen. But when I enters a server and the console pops up (LOADING screen) it goes fullscreen. When I dissconnect or jump back to the menu the desktop is suddenly 1024 and half-life is in a window again. Strange. Any way to uninstall dx8a?

I have the same problem buth with a MS usb optical mouse. I don't think the problem is mousedriver related. Might be a directx problem maybe. Would be nice if someone found out how to fix it.
