Ok I take some of it back I found out why the sound was so crappy. In the mixer allmost all the sliders were at the bottom, so to get high enough sound the speakers were turned very high. That resulted in crackling sound. Sorry Dell

I would have to dissagree on that last statement. I have a BP6 and windows2000 have never automatically chosen ACPI. But after a bios upgrade, it choose ACPI. So I believe it is actually checking. By forcing the setup to use ACPI It can go very wrong, it the board is not ACPI compliant.

Hi I had the same problem on my abit BP6. But the bios I had earlier didnt support ACPI correct so when I installed win2k it just set up as a standard computer (MPS or whatever) Then I found a beta bios that was suppoed to have fixed the problem, but it didnt work when I just switched in the devicemanager. I couldnt even startin safemode. After doing a clean install, suddenly the machine was ACPI in the device manager and my machine finally shut down atomatically. I would say that if the windows installation doesnt set the machine as ACPI your bios doesnt support this 100%. Try to find new bios, and make a new install I read that someone also hacked the setup.ini file, but I think that the setup choose ACPI if it can. Us bp6 users have a fine site called: www.bp6.com I dont know if there is a similar site for your card Or try the abit site for a bios uppgrade hope this help ------------------- Vidar [This message has been edited by Galilee (edited 20 February 2000).]

Nvidia's 3.78 drivers and Win2k? Did they work for ya?
Galilee replied to Quantus's topic in Hardware
They work ok here. Quake3 sometimes freeze while loading the game, but thats about it. In opengl I get a little bit lower fps than in win98 but in Direct3d its actually better!! My only trouble is that when using opengl or direct3d I get 60Hz, but that is fixable by editing the inf file in the drivers. I still dont get why they dont make a control panel and fix the HZ problem. -
Can someone please comment on my post further up? Am I the onlyone not getting EAX sopport? I am getting four speakers, bbut when I enable EAX in games the sound is crappy.
-
I get four speaker support, but does EAX work? I tried to play UT with hardware enabled, but damn that sound was crappy. It wass really choppy and sometimes dissappeard. When removing hardware sound in UT the sound was fine, but off cource without EAX :-((

Hi someone may have talked about this before, but why do I only get 60Hz in opengl? and in Quake3 I can't control the brightness. Its way to dark. Direct3d works like a sharm and use my normal 85Hz in UT. Is'nt there a control panel in windows2000 for nVidia's cards? I use the 3.76 drivers but have tried other drivers.

thanks a lot

Just: Use the command r_ignorehwgamma 1 then use r_gamma * to set the gamma

Is there a control-panel in these new drivers?
