This is my second time posting this same question, but I'd really like to get at least some answer (if there is one out there). This problem has been annoying me for far too long. I have a HP Pavilion 8665C computer. HP doesn't seem to think the Pavilion line of computers should be used in Windows 2000; however, I have chosen to do this. Everything works fine with the system EXCEPT the keyboard and sound card. The Internet One-touch keyboard works but not with the extra keys. This wouldn't be a problem except that pushing the 'standby' button causes the computer to reboot automatically (this is a security concern). The sound is supposed to come from a SoundBlaster PCI128 sound card. However, I have tried to install the drivers from Creative Labs and none of them will work at all. I have tried to contact Hewlett Packard about all these problems and have gotten their generic company line: 'sorry we don't support Windows 2000 for the Pavilion line of computers.' What good support! Can anybody help?? Maeric P.S. Here is the web page that lists the specs on the Pavilion 8665C and is for the more technically inclined individuals that would like to help me out: http://hp-at-home.com/datasheets/datasheet2.cfm?model_number=8665C&country=us

Okay this problem has been annoying me for far too long. Maybe somebody else can help because I've about given up. I have a HP Pavilion 8665C computer. I have a HP Pavilion 8665C computer with a One-touch Internet keyboard and I am using Windows 2000 as an OS. Everything works fine with the system EXCEPT the keyboard. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to use this kind of keyboard in Win2K and gotten it to work properly?! Right now when I press the 'STANDBY' button it reboots the system with NO CONFIRMATION. I have tried to contact Hewlett Packard about this and have gotten their generic company line: 'sorry we don't support Windows 2000 for the Pavilion line of computers.' What good support! Maeric

Finally, somebody who actually knows what they are talking about. Legitimate, backed up claims I can deal with and understand. Complaining I can also understand, but only when backed up by substantiated claims. Not just: "I think; therefore it is." [This message has been edited by Maeric (edited 19 February 2000).]

I recommend running The Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer or check the Upgrading to Windows 2000 page that Microsoft provides. In particular check out the Hardware Compatibility List. It's that simple!

Okay so how long does it take to code/integrate new drivers? Does it take 3-4 days? If you know that it takes this long then what are your qualifications for saying so? Or are you just trying to sound big and whine? I've just heard/read so much whinning about drivers in the past day or two that it makes me sick.

Drivers are out now! Get them here: Creative Labs Tech Support Download Link had valid Windows 2000 drivers on February 18, 2000. [This message has been edited by Maeric (edited 19 February 2000).]

Creative has released drivers for their TNT line of cards (check their what's new page for tech support. Besides, many other companies haven't got drivers together for Windows 2000. Why is it such a surprise that Creative took till the release of Windows 2000 to come out with their own drivers? BTW, I emailed Creative Tech Support a few days ago asking about TNT drivers for Windows 2000 and they said that their stance on W2K drivers before it's official release is that "Creative does not support drivers for beta OS's, and until Windows 2000 goes retail it is still considered a beta OS."
-
I believe that Creative does not suck. I have faired quite well with their support. As it goes right now, finding manufactuer drivers (those not already included with the W2K installation) for W2K is pretty scarce, even a day after the official launch. Creative does not have to release official drivers until after W2K goes retail (and they accomplished this). Creative also has some of the nicest multimedia components out their for everyday consumers like myself. In my opinion Creative Labs is a quite a decent company and they get my thumbs up.

Already did that but thanks anyways YuppieScum. Drivers aren't supported with MHCL, but neither is Voodoo Rush but it has drivers out for Windows 2000 (albeit 2D only drivers).

I would like to say thank you to the following members for their patience and help & useful comments: - Tony - tylau - Maverick494 Maverick494's comments especially helped. I will be using his suggestions the most as he provided the most useful information (links to files). However all aforementioned members deserve my thanks! Thank you!

Basically I know the hardware is crap, but I want the security that Windows 2000 gives. I have already installed the OS, I just need the drivers. I know it's old, but that doesn't mean it can't be used. The speed of Windows 2000 is fine on the computer I just need the proper drivers. If you don't know anything about the drivers then why post?

I recently tried to upgrade to Windows 2000 Professional on my family's computer but had the following incompatibility problems: CD-ROM controllers MKEPanasonic CD-ROM Drive Display adapters AT25 + Voodoo Rush (Single Board) Sound, video and game controllers Aztech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 I know how to solve the problem with the Voodoo Rush, but the other two cause my sound card and CD-ROM to be inopperable, as the CD-ROM controller is an IDE interface on my soundcard. Any help would be appreciated. ---------------------------- Pentium 133, 2GB WD HD, 96MB RAM, Intense 3D Voodoo Rush, Reveal SC400 Sound Card (Sound Galaxy Compatible), Reveal Panasonic 2x Internal CD-ROM, Kingston Generic Network Card
