    Liveware problem theory.

I thought the drivers OFFICIALLY supported SMP. Am I wrong?

    Clean up old drivers

I've had old hacked and beta liveware drivers, 3dfx drivers and others installed on win2k and now I'm encountering problems. Normally under win98 my solution would be to format and reinstall the OS, but I was hoping there was some convenient way to completely clean the registry and put win2k -driver-wise - back to the way it was after a fresh install. Any ideas?

    Liveware problem theory.

That is possible... no one is sure WHY the old drivers confilct with the new ones, all we know is that they DO

    Liveware problem theory.

Nope, that's probably not the problem. Check my latest post in the "Liveware 2k is EVIL post" to learn more.

    Win2K Liveware is EVIL!

EVERYONE LISTEN: This is the last time I am going to say this! The infamous reboot problem is a result of having used previous beta drivers and/or the hacked liveware 3 drivers. Please use the cleanup batch utility to remove all old residual drivers and fresh install liveware 2k. This will solve all your problems. If you can't find the utility you can email and request it from me: dave-grant61@home.com

Halflife in W2K Adv. Server - No go with my V3 3500

Well, I have to appologize to merkman. I shouldn't have assumed so much. I even thought this to myself as I wrote but the way he put it seemed so stereotypical of ignorant software pirates. Dredd, he wasn't talking like a child... infact he's quite well-spoken. Again, I appologize for what I said... I turned out to be the ignorant one. I still do not see your logic in using Adv. Server for gaming however. Almost all the posts on here are regarding problems relating to win2k pro. I suppose that's because most people running Adv. Server is incredibly knowledgeable and does not require help from this message board (which is why your post stood out and I targeted you as a pirate). Pro and Adv. Server have the same kernel, true. But Adv. Server has many more added services which may effect the memory differently, and cause problems in games which would not normally arise in Pro. Since it is not identicle to Pro, it is not the same O.S, and hence you will find limited support here since so few of us have experience with it. I haven't experienced this problem with Halflife in Proffessional if that's what you're asking... nor have I heared any talk of it.

A bone to pick with 3dfx

Grr.. that pissed me off today seing that the SECOND beta driver for the Voodoo 3 had been released before there were any drivers out for the Banshee and the rest of the cards. No offence to voodoo 3 users, and I know I should probably upgrade (but why bother with the voodoo 4 and 5 around the corner), but it's now long after the release of win2k and STILL no supported drivers at all for the banshee! I understand that their priorities are for the newer cards, but they should release drivers for each card before they start releasing 2nd betas in my opinion.

Think of buying AMD K7..should I?

I'm sure they are jduImage... nothing is 100% compatible with anything. You should know that after working with computers since 1992

Halflife in W2K Adv. Server - No go with my V3 3500

You'll be lucky to find support. You've most obviously got a pirated version of Advanced Server, and probably a pirated version of Halflife too. Do you realize what advanced server is?? It's a server OS designed for BIG companies running internet sites on very fast computers with very fast internet connections capable of handling very heavy traffic. It's not meant for a piddley little gamer such as yourself. Of course, like most pirates, you've got to have the biggest and best of everything, but your ignorance has cost you this time. If you want to run games use Proffessional, although many dispute even its "gamer-friendlyness". Sorry, didn't mean to flame yah, its just that i'm against software piracy and all, so I get annoyed.

    2kliveware? wich liveware?

This is the most common problem with the new liveware2k drivers. Read back through the history, you'll find the solution, but i'm personally tired of posting it.

Windows 2000 FIX, IS THIS TRUE

I'm almost tempted to try this magical DOS remedy just for kicks

Windows 2000 FIX, IS THIS TRUE

JduImage: That's the most incomprehensible pile of meaningless rubbish i've ever heard. For starters, there's no easy fix for gaming problems under win2k. 2nd of all, DOS and Win2k are so unrelated that any *MAGICAL* interaction between them such as the one you talked about is so incredibly impossible. Hey guys, take it easy on him, he's just a kid. Working with computers since 92, still in highschool... something like that. [This message has been edited by Jabba (edited 24 March 2000).]

    More Liveware Problems....

Anyone tried using the internal Liveware MIDI synth? Open up keyboard from your Creative Launcher and tell me what happens? If you're computer's like mine, the banks are all empty... Jeez... all this time waiting for official creative drivers and this is what I get? When I go to Control Panel->Sounds and Multimedia->Legacy Audio Driver Properties->Properties Tab->Midi for Creative S/W Synth I get an error saying that the SB Live Driver could not be loaded. More Liveware Problems....

In deleting my registry entries (during my "housecleaning" as it was put), I must have deleted something wrong because now under the legacy driver properties there are no devices listed. I tried reinstalling Live drivers etc, but the registry entries for the legacy audio drivers weren't replaced. I can't uninstall or reinstall the legacy audio drivers... there's no such option. Is there any way to restore the missing registry entries? I'm confident that if I did, this would solve my problems.

Creative's official SBLive drivers is here!

DrSchmoe, I suffer from having used the hacked liveware 3 drivers. I wondered if you could spare a moment of your time and look at my post "More Liveware Problems..." since you seem to know what you're talking about.

    More Liveware Problems....

I did have the hacked liveware 3 drivers installed long ago, but didn't expect they'd still be causing trouble. Okay, I uninstalled the drivers then I used the cleanup batch file that was posted a while back to delete all the driver files manually. Then I searched through the registry (searching for the string "Live") and deleted everything I thought had a connection to SBLive (Some stuff I wasn't sure about and left alone to be safe). Rebooted, then I reinstalled Microsoft's Basic WDM drivers. Following that I ran the setup.exe. After the final reboot... same thing, no MIDI. I'll do anything to avoid reinstalling win2k I have everything working how I like it except this and don't have time!! P.S I have a synthesizer keyboard, and the MIDI UART port works fine... it's just the internal software synth. [This message has been edited by Jabba (edited 23 March 2000).]

Does your SB Live! do this??

Nor am I, but that wasn't necessary.

    New Liveware 2k Mixer Problems

A fellow posted something earlier about being unable to simultaneously unmute two or more devices in his SBlive mixer. I didn't have this problem with the old 70meg leaked Liveware, but I now have the problem with the official Creative release. I can only unmute one input at a time. (i.e. mute Line In unmute Microphone - or vice versa). Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

    Liveware drivers

    get the new creative ones.

same question...I'm happy with the 70mb ones.

    Live!ware 2k s**t !?!

This is caused by a driver conflict. When uninstalling old drivers win2k doesn't completely remove them and they tend not to interact well with other versions. There was a news bulletin a month ago which detailed how to ensure that you remove all your old drivers (an alternative to reinstalling win2k entirely). It even included a batch file which would automate the process. I suggest you skim through the old news and find it. I had the exact same problem when I installed the leaked Creative drivers, and this fixed it for me.

    Un-muting multiple things in liveware

Wait a minute, you said Win2k CAN do it and Win98 can't... so what's the problem? Do it with win2k!

    Un-muting multiple things in liveware

Funny, the exact same thing happened to me, except in windows 98 (now I'm using 2k). I thought the problem still existed for me, and just went to check only to realize that I have complete freedom over my mutes. Sorry I can't think of anything I did to fix it, but at least you know there's hope.

    Unreal Tour Banshee and Win2K

I had this exact same problem, it dissapeared when I used the latest hacked NT4 drivers (on the 3dfx FAQ page). The latest NT drivers from 3dfx also work. Make sure you properly uninstall your old drivers.
