    Homeworld & voodoo banshee

Has anyone managed to run homeworld in OpenGL with the voodoo banshee? I'm using Anthony's hacked NT4 drivers (god I wish 3dfx would get off it's a** and release drivers) and can only use D3D and Software.
  2. How can I get my friend's computer (who lives next door and is on rogers @home with me) to join my Workgroup in network neighbourhood. I read some stuff about LMHOSTS, and I put the appropriate information in there, but his computer refuses to show up anywhere in network neighbourhood or resolve when i type "\\computername" in the run command. My setup: *Win2k* IP: 24.112.191.112 Netmask: 255.0.0.0 No WINS server His setup: *Win98* IP: 24.114.229.160 Netmask: 255.0.0.0 No WINS server

What kind of crap is Creative releasing???

I've had no trouble whatsoever. I'm even using the SBlive for proffessional audio recording in win2k with no problems. If anything my sound quality has improved.

    Homeworlds + Banshee + OpenGL

Anyone managed to get the Homeworlds working with a Banshee in OpenGL? Works fine in D3d and software. I was hoping the new drivers would fix it for me, but no

    New Banshee Drivers = crap

Followed the readme instructions step for step. Setup copies files, screen flashes, and then error pops up "an error occured during the installation of the device. The system cannot find the file specified". After reboot the device is disabled and "no drivers are installed". I've installed plenty of driver updates in my lifetime and never have I come across this. I was previously using the 3dfx NT4 drivers, that could be part of the problem, but I did a thourough file cleanup to be sure. Anyone else have these problems?

    MSI IDE drivers

Anyone managed to get the MSI PCI Bus Master IDE Drivers working? The install keeps saying it won't run under NT5, regardless of if I use the apcompat.exe

    New Banshee Drivers = crap

also, a quote from the readme.txt: 8) When asked to choose a device, select "Voodoo Series Driver" Click "Next". The two selectable driver names from the .inf are: 3dfx Interactive. Voodoo Banshee 3dfx Interactive. Voodoo 3 There's no mention of "Voodoo Series Driver".

    PIO/DMA + NEC CDROM

I have a NEC 24x CDROM which supposedly supports DMA, yet win2k always reports using PIO. (I DID select "Use DMA if available") Any ideas?

Halflife in W2K Adv. Server - No go with my V3 3500

What would be the point? Each O.S is so easy to find on the internet that pirating it in such a method would be a waste of time. I did say that the kernels were the same, which means that, yes, the O.S is the same, but since there are so many added services running in the background it is significantly different; such errors aren't a big suprise. You could have two identicle operating systems running side by side with the exact same hardware and configuration, and a game wouldn't run on one of the two because it's running ICQ in the background and the other is not (this is a fictitious example, but it's possible none the less).

    Liveware 2000 crash !!

Note to all: If the cleanup utility you are using is named cleanup.bat and not cleanup.cmd, then it is likely my modification of the original util that I distributed. The batch file won't work within win2k because of access restrictions. You must boot from a floppy or from another OS and run the batch file. Everything should work then.

    SOUNDBLASTER 16 ISA & Win2k

Win2k won't detect my ISA SB16 card. I'm pretty sure it's PnP, but even the hardware scan turns up nada. It just DOESN'T exist. I tried a few other old ISA devices I have lying around, and they all have the same result.

I don't mean to piss everyone off..........

rofl! Yeah, this guy brightens up my day. He's the comic releif on NT Compatible. Jdul, if you want everything to work on win2k, you have to format, install DOS, then install windows 2000 (don't forget to delete MSDOS.sys). Have you forgotten your own advice?

    NFS5 3dsetup

I run 3dsetup.exe and NOTHING happens. Checked the task manager and there's no active process. I'm running win2k, voodoo 3 3000.
  20. It's the same idea as a perpetual motion device. There's no such thing as a frictionless media, just as there's no such thing as a 100% efficient fiber optic cable. Can't be done... at least not with today's technology.

    quake3 lan/tcp-ip question

Essentially the computer running SYSGATE is a firewall, meaning that the other computer isn't actually connected to the internet (it can send information out, but can't receive. If you were running a linux server you could use port routing to accomplish this. I'm not framiliar with Sysgate, but my experience with other 32bit proxy/gateway programs shows that this isn't possible. My solution to this problem was to buy a hub, plug my cablemodem into the hub aswell as my two computers, and give them each their own internet IP address. This way they both had real direct connections... no need for sysgate. This isn't possible if you have a dialup connection

    .INF files

It seems that my origional win2k banshee.inf file has been replaced after installing a bunch of hacked drivers (for my banshee).I want to revert back to the original windows drivers for my own purposes. I've looked through the .CAB files on the CD, but can't find any .inf files. Anyone know where they are?

Install windows 95, and then delete the directory, then install windows 2000, but delete the msdos.sys. (just a joke from that 7 page Jdulmage thread
