Yeah I have 128 megs of ram and whistler 2296 pro and after fresh boot im left with about 26 megs also hmm dont know why. My problem is that I cannot get any 3d accelleration with my Matrox g450 32 meg. Ok I had this problem with win2k before dx8 final came out and now that I have installed that the problem still remains. When I run 3dmark2000 and goto the listing for the g450 it says that I have 48908k total video memory and 47372k total texture memory. No matter what apeture size I set in the bios (its at 128 megs now) the texture memory never gets bigger and thus I can never run the 64 meg texture test in win2k (in win9x it runs fine because 3dmark2000 correctly tells me I have like 90-100 megs of texture memory) Any ideas on this im stumped completely. ------------------ Celeron II 566@875 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 128 Pc100, Matrox G450 32 DH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, Win98FE

Well guys I formatted fresh last night in anticipation for testing out the latest beta of Whistler pro. Here are some of my thoughts and things I noticed. Good: Extremely stable (and its Beta 1 ) Boots up in half the time win2k pro takes detected and installed 95% of my hardware off the bat applications seem to load up faster than in win2k pro Comes with Directx8 and IE 5.6 built in TCP/IP code is even better than win2k pro, my 56k was screaming last night WMP 7 loads up in like 2 secs now instead of 2 years in WinME Bad: Takes forever to shutdown Has stupid system restore from Winme built in with win2k drivers install my G450 32 meg has no 3d accelaration at all Literally eats ram for breakfast, after fresh boot I had 24 megs out of 128 megs left Slow response when reading from cdrom drives Stupid animated slow ass help from WinME ------------------ Celeron II 566@952 on a Abit BE6 Rev 1, 128 Pc100, Matrox G450 32 DH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA and other odds and ends [This message has been edited by pr-man (edited 18 November 2000).]

Guys you may or may not be interested in this. I was getting ready to install Windows 2000 on my system and I wanted to make sure that my current motherboard would be up to spec so I emailed FIC techsupport and told them that I have the second newest bios available for my board. They just emailed me a bios for the board which I have never seen and is not listed on their site but they said should be installed to make the board fully compliant with win2k. It is dated 11/99.
