Celeron 300a @464 192 megs pc100, 8.4 gig western digital HD UDMA-33, SBlive Value, Matrox G400 32 meg SH, Toshiba 6x DVD-rom, HP Surestore 7200i, Diamond Supra express 56i isa my motherboard is an Abit BH6 rev 1.01 and is using the latest non-beta QN bios. Thx PR-man ------------------ ***TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST*** -
Are games slower in Win2k mainly because vid card drivers have not matured? Or will they never really reach Win98 levels? Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 192 Pc100, Matrox G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends

Ok my system is as follows: Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01 (BX chipset, running newest ACPI compliant bios QN dated 5-29-00) 192 megs pc100,8.4 gig Western Digital UDMA-33 Matrox G400 32 meg SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, with other odds and ends I am currently using Win2k pro but used Win98 in the past. My question is in your opinion considering my current system and the fact that I play alot of games, watch alot of DVDs, also use my computer for Internet, word processing, and some image manipulation (getting into this more since I got my digital camera). Which OS is best for me to use out of Win2k and Win98 (not SE) Thx guys

ok I have a Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 192 Pc100, Matrox G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends and when i install the g400 drivers the card starts in agp2x mode but if I run any games or benchmarks for any amount of time, i get a lockup and distorted screen. Agp1x does not do this. Is this a win2k problem? Someone told me that since all 3 of my 64 meg dimms are by different manufactures that taht may be the problem. Any ideas? Also im running in standard pc mode and have no IRQ conflicts and the G400 is on IRQ 9
-
cool, i was just wondering because someone had told me that the BH6 does not like when all three dimms are filled, memory is mismatched. And I have both instances I will say that this mobo is a dream compared to my PA-2013 rev 2.1 I had previously
-
anyone have any idea?

Wel;l to be honest Win2k is stable as hell on my system and I never get any errors or blue screens, there are a few things in the evnt viewer I may post here cuz I dont understand them. Honestly Im just wondering if the gaming performance will go up as video drivers mature for Win2k. Gaming performance is nice right now, but I still ong for win98 scores. pr-man

pr-man replied to pr-man's topic in Hardware

we need to see your system specs to help you out. also a copy of your IRQs would not hurt

I have switched from a VIA based system to a BH6 rev 1.01 (BX Chipset) system and it is extremely more stable in Win2k that my pa-2013 rev 2.1 was but I still am not able to run in agp2x with lockups or screen corruption. Anyone have any luck? Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 192 Pc100, Matrox G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends

There is nothing wrong with that it just means that your system and Win2k are running in ACPI mode and if everything is working then it is successfully doing it. Which in itself nowadays is a great feat

What I mean is that I dont have the fastest system by any means but I feel that Win2k is a little to sluggish for what im running it with. I have tweaked all I know how to tweak and set to manual the services I have read can be setthat way. Any other ideas? I really dont know of a good system benchmark that works well with Win2k. Sandra really does not like Win2k. My system is: Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 192 megs Pc100, Matrox G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends

Could someone email me a list of these please. I would appreciate it. Thx
