This will fix your problems. It also fixed my problems with the MPV3 chipset I posted it here a while back but maybe you missed it Ok sorry about the caps im just so excited, I was having the black screen problem in win2k with my pa-2013 rev 2.1 and matrox g400 32 meg card. only soultion was to drop the apeture to 4 megs and turn off agp2x. well i was searching websites and happen upon a article on www.tomshardware.com about a fix for win2k and via 133kx chipsets. It seems that Asus has a beta version of viaagp.sys that they altered and it was made to fix the problems win2k not seeing the agp port on via 133kx based mobos. Well I said what the hell even thouigh I have a MPV3 chipset based pa-2013 and I downloaded and replaced my current viaagp.sys with the new one. WELL HOLY @#$% NOW IM ABLE TO BOOT INTO WIN2K WITH 128 MEG APETURE AND AGP2X RUNNING SMOOTH AND NO PROBLEMS AFTER 3 HOURS OF PLAY. I confirmed with powerstrip that agp2x is activated and apeture is 128. and to think I thought it was an FIC bios problem. It was VIA all along. Well dont wait goto this link and download the driver and switch it out in safe mode. Well I just replaced my AWE64 value isa card with an SBlive Value card and I installed liveware 3.0 for win2k. Problem is I am really not impressed with the sound difference between the two cards. Maybe im hearing impaired or something. I was kinda expecting a BIG diference for something. I have played UT, Ultima online and some mp3 so far. My speaker system is not awesome but pretty good. No problem glad to help Also I have having lockups in direct3d games after this fix after playing for like 5 minutes. changing my dekstop to 32 bit completely fixed that problem as well So did this fix help anyone else? ------------------ ***TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST***

Also I just installed quake 2 and opengl runs superb no lockups or distortions. I installed the 3dnow patch also and i can play all the play up to 1600x1200 32 bit with no problems. So opengl is working fine also

If so please list your specs and way you got it to work. my friend installed his and just got black screen at startup ------------------ ***TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST***

mine runs fine except it does stop responding a few times during a couple of hours play. I have no idea why

These are the Bios' I have now, just wondering which ones people have had the best results with 115JI38 JI438 JI1537 JI4326 Beta JI437_322e (i think allows detection of HDs over 32 gigs) JI437 ------------------ ***TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST***

Ok It is really fine on my system but i notice that when i first load up win2k my cpu usage is beyween 39% and 100% and I hear the hard drive running. I am assuming that it is scanning some file at startup so I disabled resident shield but then I lose email scanning. anyway to keep the email scanning turned on but not to have that scanning running at startup? ------------------ ***TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST***

Also make sure that the G400 has an IRQ assigned to it and that it is not sharing one. G400 likes to be by themselves

man media player keeps crshing on me in 2k when playing MP3's, sometimes at beginning of a song sometimes end. and sometimes it plays the song like its as 300% speed wierd ------------------ ***TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST***

If you are having this problem please list your motherboard model revision and bios please. I have a FIC PA-2013 rev 2.1 with the 115JI38 bios and running a Matrox G400 32 meg with latest win2k drivers. I get a black screen at startup unless I set apeture in bios to 4 megs.
