I used to run mepis on my insprion 8000 fine with xp but every time I try to boot up the simply mepis cd it gets to a point where it says unable to start filesystem Halting, regardless of what boot choice i chose. memory is fine I have tested as well as the HD. any ideas?

ok I have about 3 gigs of pictures I wanted to backup to a dvd-r disc using my dvd-rw. I know how to backup dvds etc but I cannot figure out how to save a iso of this 3 gigs worth of files on my HD for burning later to a dvd-r.

Ok I am a very computer literate person but I am a complete noob when it comes to creating a web site. I tried Dreamweaver 2004 mx but dont find it very easy to use or intuitive especially for a beginner. I just want to create a web site with a forum, java chat room and of course pictures and etc that I will add to the pages. can anyone give me some advice and help? Thanks

this is a lexar 128 meg one. no cd came with it and lexars site says no drivers needed for win2k or xp

I have a laptop with a wifi card, my desktop has ADSL via an internal pci dsl modem which my phone line plus into. I want to be able to setup my daughters computer and my laptop to be able to share the dsl connection wirelessly. Can anyone tell me the easiest and most cost effective way to do this? Thx i got the wireless card installed in the desktop if if I set it to peer to peer my laptop can see the desktop but cant login. if I set as access point it just scans through the channels but my laptop sees nothing. Can someone help me out?

ok I have tried this with winxp sp2 and win2k pro sp4. I have a microsoft MN-520 wifi card in my laptop. When im on my wifi network or the one at the coffee shop i frequent out if the blue the mouse and sound start skipping and i notice that the cpu is stuck at 100% (namely the "system" process is). Only solution is to take out the wifi card and reboot. If I take it out and put back in the connection will reestablish and cpu will go to 100% again. I think the microsoft broadband networking util that I installed to install the mn-520 is the culprit because if I uninstall it the problem seems to go away however if i uninstall that I am kinda flying wifi blind. any ideas? lappy specs: p3 1ghz 512 megs ram 30 gig hd gf2 go 32 meg dvd/cdrw wifi MN-520 15" uxga

Have Win2k pro on my P3 1ghz laptop with 512 megs ram. I dont have that many programs loading up but after i get to desktop it seems to take a long time before I can start doing things smoothly.

debating which one to put on and older p3 laptop using wifi

Playing games, wifi and work. Which do you think is better? Ive heard that Xandros is great right out of the box but seems and feels slower to some people.

any suggestions?
