Acer USB Scanner 640U With Windows 2000

First, remove the previous drivers, including the corresponding oem.inf (make sure you don't delete the wrong one) file in the WINNT/inf directory. Then, unplug the scanner from the computer. Reboot. Then install the new Win 2000 drivers from Acer's website. Then power down the computer. Re-attach the scanner and power it on. Then power up the computer. The scanner should be recognized and the drivers should work now. That's how I got mine to work. Good luck, Bob

Yes, I am using that file. Could you email a copy of your inf file to me? Maybe mine is corrupt somehow. Thanks, Bob

Thanks for the tip. I couldn't get it to work. I kept getting the message "required part of inf missing" Any thoughts? Thanks

    Acer 620U scanner and Win2k

Has anyone had success using the acer beta usb drivers for this scanner on win2k build 2195. I cannot seem to get it to work. When the twain program comes up, it never finds the scanner. However, if I power up the scanner, win2k asks for the install software, which installs without difficulty. Any help is appreciated. Bob
