Thanks for the link J_Pro I can't believe they aren't going to allow a full install in Win2k. The heading of that press release says "PowerQuest's award-winning partitioning software adds partition manipulation under Windows 2000 Professional" Sounds a little misleading to me!

Here is a reply I got from Powerquest today: ________________________________________________________________ Evan, Thank you for contacting us. There was a delay in release of the PartitionMagic 5.01 patch. The patch will be available by April 19th. Thank you, Karen PowerQuest Customer Service PO Box 1911 Orem UT 84059-1911 Phone: (800)379-2566 Fax: (801)226-3005 _______________________________________________________________

No sh#t Win2k was in beta so long that I don't think any company has an excuse for not being ready with patches, drivers, etc. Just shows how a company would rather spend money later (after year end) rather than keeping its customers happy! Oh well

I'm going to try the fix for the Asus SMP m/b listed on the front page of this site. Can anyone with one of these boards who has already done this fix please post a reply on the end result (Are the freezes really gone?) Thanks

I've got a dual boot with Win98 (FAT32) and Win2k (NTFS). Never tried it with just Win2k so I don't know if that's the problem. I really hope that Microsoft would have predicted that setup though! Would the other people with this problem post a reply about any dual boot or mixed file formats they run. Thanks

I also agree that the problem isn't just with the Athlon and Geforce. I noticed that Microsoft has posted some customer support diagnostics on their website. I think we should all download them and post the results for comparison (of course let Microsoft know also). The link to the download is: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/otherdownloads/symbols/default.asp If you're on dialup don't bother because a full download is 104Mb for diagnostics and 94Mb for symbols. Feel free to email me if you want: evanwaite@home.com

I'm not on any type of network. How do you disable the NetBIOS if it is running? Also did any of you have this problem in the beta or rc versions? I've had it since day one (RC2)!

No WindowBlinds, no Motherboard Monitor and no Active Desktop enabled. Outlook express does show there was a problem shutting it down if it was open when the lockup occurs. The event viewer also doesn't show any errors about the lockup and the auto reboot on problem doesn't work when this happens. Here is a list of apps that are running in the background just in case me have something in common. McAfee VirusScan NT 4.03 WarDaemon FTP v1.71b2 IE5 is usually open Has anyone emailed MS about this problem?

Same problem here! I thought it was just a bug in the drivers for RC2 but the final still has problems. I can get it to lock up using any type of multimedia (mp3,video,etc). My system: Asus P2B-D M/B (dual processor) Single PIII-550 256Mb RAM SoundBlaster Live! ATI Rage Fury
