but does this method fix the 4 speaker support for the SBLIVE and WINXP? I cant try it anymore because I uninstalled WinXP, and am using WIN2K again. I want to make sure that problem is fixed before I install WinXP RTM.

The fix (http://members.tripodnet.nl/Tom1010AM/winxpfiles/SBLive_Fix_by_j_sklar.rar) is unreachable at the moment

Thank you! This is probably the way I got it to work, but I tried so many things I couldn't remember . Do you also have a trick to get SB Live Value + 4-speaker to work properly?
-
I know what you mean NaughtyNu, and it's really frustrating, because here we have a good working OS but it's being hindered by buggy drivers. But I guess it's a bit too early for us to comlpain because the gold code has not been released yet. But still I think it can be expected that many companies, as creative like you said, won't even have proper drivers before the customer buys a PC with WinXP on it, which is less then 4 weeks away. Even though their Live! card is used by so many.

I got it to work, but i don't know exactly how. I must have installed those drives 20 times. Anyway, I used older drivers, version 9.00. Those seem to work better than the newest ones. Install them via the 'have disk' option. But I also have problemen getting sound out of my rear speakers (with the sb live) and RC2 can't log off properly, so I quit and install win2k. Winxp is too incompatible, for now.

Argh, i too can't get 4 speakers to work. LiveWare3 for Win2k is a no-go, and with the original drivers from WinXP RC2 I never get sound from the rear, dispite setting the speakers to quadrophonic. What else can i try? I thought WinXP was a little more developed than this .

I use RC2 and am unable to get Mouseware to install. I does not give me an error, but it seems like Windows keeps using its own driver (date 1-7-200). I have downloaded the latest Mouseware for Win2k, with no luck. I need those drivers to get my thumb button to work and to let the scroll wheel function better. I am really desperate, anyone who can help me?

Ok thanks, now I only need to find the 'sync data transfer' option...
-
In Win98 there was the option to enable 'sync data transfer' that would inrease performance of the cd-rom drive, which also resulted in better performance when burning on the fly (from cd-rom directly to cd-rw). Does anybody know where I can find this option in Windows 2000? And also, is it better to turn DMA on or off?

It now works. I made this from the boot.ini [boot Loader] Timeout=5 Default=C:\ [Operating Systems] C:\="Microsoft Windows" In stead of this (default) [boot Loader] Timeout=5 Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT [Operating Systems] C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Setup" C:\="Microsoft Windows" By the way.. If I install Windows 2000 on a new partition on my HD, is it easy to uninstall and then go back to Win98?

Dit not work. I says ut cant find the file and then it wont do anything.. Good thing I only renamed it.. any other suggestions?

Under Win98 I started the Win2k installation proces. it copied some files and rebooted. During boot it started the installation proces under DOS. I had to choose a partition to install, but I forgot to turn on that option before rebooting from Win98.. I cancelled with F3 so I could reboot. I now changed my mind I want to wait installing Win2K, but everytime I boot I still get the boot-up screen where I can choose between continuing the Win2k install or go to Win98.. Does somebody know how to get rid of it?
