Arcanum, was IMO a very fun RPG. the ability to go techno or magic was very cool.

how bright is it?

ENABLE frame rate limiting. GTA3 spikes to real high frame rates then real low alot. frame rate limiting will keep it a constant 30fps (i think), but it should be smooth. turn off motion blur. that should help.

thats how i always thought of the Timothy Dalton movies; not really Bond, just a ripoff.

(shifts body around and does funky hand gesture) "I aint got a dollar". :x

i would like to see somebody do to kingpin what has been done to quake 1 with tenebrae. for those that don't know, tenebrae adds alot of the doom3 tech to quake 1. bumpmaps everywhere and full dynamic lighting, etc, etc... that would be cool... tenebrae link: http://tenebrae.sourceforge.net/

Actually, i am kinda hoping nvidia purchases AMD...

Quote: This coming from an AMD/Via fan? I got no problem with AMD... But I had NO IDEA there was such a thing as a VIA fan... :x I am going to wait for the 6 month refrsh of GeforceFX (NV35?), The refresh product is worth waiting an additional 6 months. Hopefully with a 256 bit mem bus and 256 meg mem. i wonder how Nvidia will handle that with their crossbar memory controller... 32 bit x 8 or 64 bit x 4? I wanna see 256 bit memory with true ddr2 performance (4 reads per clock not 2 like the geforcefx uses)... 256 bit, 256 meg @ 2.0 ghz(effective). Memory bandwidth problems would be a NON-ISSUE for some time to come. i am too lazy to do the math, but i know that equals god d@mn fast. Don't get me wrong... geforce fx is very nice... but for $500+ i am gonna wait a little longer. i wanna play doom 3 at 1600 x 1200, all bells and whistles on with 60+ fps. i think (hope!) nv35 will do this.

what dave.green1 said. connery was the perfect Bond. he will always BE Bond to me. these other guys are just boys being bondish. like the REAL james bond retired and they just took up the name to scare their enemies. like the Dread Pirate Roberts. Bond is not a pretty boy; he is a strong, VERY masculine MAN. (edited to remove my sig)

don't double post please.

these are Quadro drivers that ARE available off of the nvidia website. http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=certified_winxp-2k they have a higher IQ and slower speed. they have some minor problems with bf1942. nvnews.net forums were all over em a few weeks ago when they came out. look here for a comparison page: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=ed2611c7361afdc52928b5d789ef4978&threadid=3810

NO NOT FUJI!!!! fuji have crap thermal protection, worse than samsung! Seagate, WD, Maxtor are good in that order.

weird, mine works flawlessly from the word go. 1. install drivers from cd, full package. 2. install updated drivers from soundblaster.com 3. enjoy. this is not working for you?

while i agree that more than 128 mb of memory for win2k is optimal, win2k can run just fine on 128mb. i got a desktop p3 450 with 128 and a IBM a20m laptop with 128mb. Both running win2k just fine. on average i run a minimum of three applications at a time with little to no slow down due to file swappin. i've run win2k on a p200 with 128mb of mem before as well and just for the record "IT WORKED GREAT!", faster than win98 when running multiple apps. No, not as fast as my dual 1 gigger with 2 gig of memory, but damn, it worked alot better than you would normally assume. Much better than i anticipated. BTW, my laptop is similar to the original posters, and win2k works great here. Something is janky with his install. Its not just memory or a slow laptop hard drive. My laptop is a notch slower than his and is very responsive.

You do realise that your score will be the same even if you turn on 4XAA and 8X AF. I thought it was really weak as either a demo or benchmark.

Quote: Just one day before launch of Intel fastest 3.06Ghz Pentium 4, RiStaR has managed to turn on the Hyper-Threading function by chance on the older Pentium 4 2.4B using the IWILL P4HT-S 845PE board. This has proven that Hyper-Threading was already present in the Northwood just that it has been disabled by the BIOS. There should be some tricks to enable HT in the BIOS even it is not a 3.06Ghz P4. wooot! I knew this could be done! Somewhere in one of my prevous posts i theorized about the possibility of enabling HT on older p4's. I wonder how well that is working for him? If i can hack my P4 2.4 to enable HT i will be very happy camper. RiStaR needs to share the info on how he did this. anyone have more info, theories, etc, etc???

So thats what that button does! I've never touched that button! cool. 8)

yeah, my p4t533-c has support for HT, but it doesnt have the bios setting unless the mobo detects it. From what i hear (warning! conjecture and rumor!) the p4 has the ummm tag on the cpu that HT is present disabled on the die... theorectically you should be able to just force the bios to enable HT. According to my Intel rep (i am not trying to start a "my rep is better than yours" war, just saying where my info comes from) HT is present and functional in all northwood and better p4's not just the 533 fsb version. Supposedly Intel burned out the HT part of the die in the older p4's (like 486sx's burned off math coproc), but when they moved to the northwood it was easier and more economical to just burn the tag that tells the mobo HT is present. FYI, my intel dude is just a sales/advertising rep... but he has given out accurate info in the past. sooo... i am willing to trash my system a bit and start hacking my bios... anyone care to point me in the right direction as to programs to use, etc, etc?
-
of course i have an "A" revision cpu with a 400 mhz fsb. ;(

Unfortunately your problem is very common with the live cards. Only reason i upgraded to the Audigy is to get rid of that very same problem. multiple possible fixes include: 1. Pci latency, adjust this in your bios if you can. somewhere between 32 and 64 is preferable. WARNING, this may fix this problem but it may also cause others!. use with caution. 2. Latest VIA 4-in1's. 3. Try a different pci slot, as a matter of fact... try em all. juggle slots with other devices, sometimes there will be only 1 combination of devices to slots that will work right. (god, i hate VIA) 4. Disable everything you are not using, such as com ports, lpt ports, onboard audio. 5. chuck the sblive out da window.

look for "cracked tweakedserver" for good multiplay, ff is off and i ban lamerz. team play is strongly encouraged. only 10 players, but that is more enjoyable IMO. Most of the players are very regulars. FYI, i run a cracked server because lamerz have been generating cd keys and stealing the use of them from people who bought the game. 3 of my clan mates cd keys are useless now. ;( i DO NOT condone warez, its just the only way they can play now . enjoy.

BF1942 owns my soul! tho i guess it falls under the catagory fps/sim/arcade? Its different. a friend of mine was complaining about how it was just a vehicle game, and how you only run around to get into vehicles, saying there was no strategy... so, i invited him over and played three games straight, never getting into a vehicle once, and i still topped the list in all three games for points and killz. thats part of why this game is soooo cool, you can play it any way you see fit to get the job done. Don't have to drive that tank. Aint gotta fly dat plane. You CAN stay on foot and still KICK @SS. forgot to add: bf1942 is basically mohaa with vehicles. i love mohaa... but i down't think i can go back to it now... I'd keep looking around for my Tiger, or my Zero...

With RR your modem is capped at 2.0 mbps, but you are guarenteed at least 1.5 mbps... Sounds like you are exactly where you should be. i have noticed, that of all the Cable modem services, RR seems to have the best upload speed (if not best all around speed)... i know people just 10 miles away stuck with Cox Cable (the names say it all) and they would kill to get anything over 10kBps uploads... On an even more side-tracked subject: I remember back in the 90's when Cable and DSL where not widespread at all, everyone was writing about how DSL would be better for gaming than cable as it was supposed to have less latency... But that has been proved to be very very wrong, everyone i know with DSL is happy if they get pings anywhere close to 100 (if they can even connect! HA!)... I am pissed if i ping anywhere above 50. Nobody called that one. :x

no. no such thing really. best thing is something to auto resume downloads... everything/anyhting else is just cr@p.
