Hi, I'm having a problem running Spiderman - the movie and GTA3, whenever I click either icon on my desktop nothing happens. I tested dx with dxdiag and got the following message when testing hardware-accelerated dx8 interfaces: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available) Machine specs from dxdiag report: Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) (2600.xpclnt_qfe.010827-1803) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: VIA694 System Model: AWRDACPI BIOS: VIA694 - 42302e31 Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1900+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1602MHz Memory: 256MB RAM Page File: 135MB used, 482MB available Primary File System: n/a DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.01.2600.0000 32bit Unicode Card name: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce4 Ti 4200 DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device ID: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0253&SUBSYS_15E710B0&REV_A2 Display Memory: 128.0 MB Current Mode: 1152 x 864 (32 bit) (100Hz) Monitor: Default Monitor Monitor Max Res: Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.13.10.2942 (English) DDI Version: 7 Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 5/3/2002 10:06:00, 3539018 bytes Driver Signed: Yes WHQL Date Stamp: n/a VDD: Mini VDD: nv4_mini.sys Mini VDD Date: 5/3/2002 10:06:00, 931882 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B71E3E-4113-11CF-7E78-ED3500C2CB35} Vendor ID: 0x10DE Device ID: 0x0253 SubSys ID: 0x15E710B0 Revision ID: 0x00A2 Registry: OK DDraw Status: Enabled D3D Status: Enabled AGP Status: Enabled DDraw Test Result: All tests were successful. I've installed the patch but I have the same error.

I'm pretty sure I did try the fix, do you know where I can get from so I can try it again.

Earlier today I updated my Nero installation to version 5.5.5.1, after the required reboot windows explorer no longer shows any of my CD drives (a ReWriter and a DVD). In the device manager XP is telling me this for both drives: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) I don't have any system restore points because I turned it off and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the devices but it doesn't work. Can anyone help? I'm using XP pro build 2600

Hi, I've got a dual boot system with win2k and winME (upgraded from win98se) and the recycled bin isn't working correctly. If I start with an empty bin and delete something it gets listed in the recycled window but as soon as I delete something in ME, the recycled bin screws up. Files in the bin vanish or only show in one OS and not in the other, also in 2k filenames get corrupted and show up as a line of little boxes. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? KAC

I turned off a load of services that I thought I wouldn't need in win2k pro and now I can't get my printer to work anymore. When windows boots, it tries to install the printer but comes back with a message saying that it needs the RPC server but I can't find that service anywhere. Does anyone know which services have to be on for the printer to work again? Thanks.
