I have an sblive that supports all the ACPI features in Wn2k. No trouble there, but I can't get take 2 to work right either. I instlled ME on another partition so I could use take 2.

Would that be 2296 Pro or 2296 consumer? Or 2296 server, advanced server or datacenter server? Fries with that? Super sized or regular? Cream or Sugar? I'm not making fun of you guys (except jdulmage)but I would be curious to know which one it is since there are reportedly two versions. O.k. Now I know the damn thing says codename whistler. But where the hell does it say personal/professional. Somebody may try to make me believe that there are always 2 simultaineous builds but I won't. I might believe it near release time but not during developement. Similar to how there are actually 3 versions of WinME. Don't make me throw the bull**** flag. :

I would like to upgrade to SMP. Is there a problem with the drivers if you don't use EAX? I don't ever play games. I do music, multimedia and DVD.

Asus P3v4x mobo G400 DH Max SB Live 2940AU scsi I use the Revision 5.10.012 video drivers dated 5/24. I've tried them all and like these the best. You've probably heard somebody tell you to check your mobo bios for an upgrade. Try that if you haven't.

Does it put any errors in your event log. I hate software that does that.

I would be pleasantly surprised if a dual output card worked on whistler using Win2K drivers. The reason is because the drivers were written assuming that you use them on Win2K and it wouldn't work.

Allright. We have to get this straight. With 2 discrete video cards you can have independent refresh rates in Win2K. It's when you have one card with 2 outputs that Win2K starts to suck. I've had complete success with 2 separate cards.

Yes I know. I have the same problem with a Matrox G400 DH. So then do the the Whistler users still have this problem. I would think not because if we are moving to NT then MS would not want all of their customers who enjoy the correct dual monitor support on 98/ME to be downgraded when they migrate to Whistler. Think of all the unsuspecting folk who will just think that when the upgrade their OS things will get better. We know different. We know that so much crap still doesn't work. I think it's motivation for the hardware makers to get good drivers out. I'll be here to flame like a MOFO if they don't.

I am installing Win2k Server Full version. I'm doing a clean install. I could use help from anyone who has specifically installed the full version of Win2k Server. Anyone who has done so would be able to help me with minimal effort. Please email me if you would like to lend a hand. Thank you.

Thanks. I acquired what I was lacking. I'm now up and running and the experimentation can begin.

I just want to know if anyone has actually used this motherboard with the voltage set at 2.05,2.1 or 2.2. I am only asking because ASUS bent me over when I tried this on a CUV4X. The machine wouldn't go past post and they said they wouldn't fix the bios to make it work.

Come on. I know somebody on the planet has an overclocked Celeron1 and the Cusl2.

Two things: Try DVD Genie to change the default drive. Buy a Sigma Designs netstream 2000 card that is designed to stream DVD over a network. If the first one doesn't work the second one will.

I read excatly what elomire678 said. I also read that it was an add on to windows too. The whack thing is that it's build was something like 4000. That's way higher than the highest ME or Whistler build.
-
You're lucky. I had that motherboard. You can't use voltages of 2.1 or 2.2 on a Celery1 because ASUS won't support it. I called them and they said they don't support overclocking yet they include the option. I finally got them to directly ship me a P3V4X in exchange so I could adjust the voltage.

New VIA 4 in 1 Drivers... Does someone want to test them?
J_Pro replied to evil Homer's topic in Hardware
I did verify that on my 2k install the AGP driver did update to 4.04. -

One more thing. I already had the 4.03AGP drivers installed before I put this on ME. When I look at the extraced files for 4.25, I didn't see any folders that specify ME. The separated AGP driver has a folder for each OS. -

I'm using them on 2k and ME. I installed the pieces manually on ME. No problems here with an ASUS P3V4X. -
Just in case you try this and winnt32 /b doesn't work, try winnt /b. I forget if Win98 prefers the 16 or 32 bit exe in it's DOS prompt.

No smartass. I'm waiting for Gambler to tell me what I'm missing using IE5.5 that he is getting by using Opera.
-
Gambler. I was wondering why you use opera. Isn't that a browser.

One more time: 1. Install Partition magic on Win98 2. Convert to FAT16 3. Insert NT4 CD and go to the i386 directory in a DOS prompt (ie d:\i386) and type winnt32 /b Now you will have NT4 and win98 installed with a dual boot on a FAT 16 partition and you won't need a floppy. I've only done it about 100 times. It's up to you whether or not you want to later remove 98 but I can tell you it only takes 10 seconds to remove 98 at this point.
