    W2K installation problems....

My son has a BX6 rev 2.0 and he is also running 2K Try the install by re-installing 98 first then installing 2K but do not select clean install and right at that screen or right around that screen you will also see a option that say something like advanced options or something like that anyway go in there and say copy all files to hard drive. That should work it did for us anyway good luck my friend. Regards Jim

    Piracy...

I purchased my copy of W2K far less than $200.00 and it is not an upgrade. It is however OEM wich simply means MS gives no support what so ever but lets face it what support do you really get .... For the common tweaky out there know more than any level one tech at MS and most level two.. I know been down that road With 95 and 98 and have to reverse engineer an after market SCSI driver to work with both OS. But MS got it right in W2K and they work fantastic. Hey lets face it I am no MS fan but there OS work better for games than anyone out there hands down. Yes I think $200 is too high for W2K _ell what I paid was too high but the fact is I wanted it, I use it, And you bet my 17 year old son is not going to see his father brake the law by pirating MS or anyone elses software. If you use it pay for it. how would you feel if you had your car for sale in front of your house and someone in the middle of the night broke in and stole it just because you asked to much for it. Far off base you say..... Is it Regards Jim

    Gaming at 700MHz

I have a Tyan Tiger 100 Dual MB,Running two PIII 600e's, 256RAM PC100, A PCI TNT2 32M Ultra, 10GB IBM 7200RPM IDE HD,(and yes guy's they do make a PCI verion of the TNT2)I have ran this system stable @ 100,112,133 FSB that = 600, 672, 798 MHZ(W2K see it as 800MHZ) but to get to the question all the games I have played works great yes a few do have a little frame dropping but by far worth it for what you gain .... True memory managment True multi tasking .... I have had every Office 2000 program open working in access Outlook running (memory hog) IE5 cranking away...(WOW you'd think I was promoting MS or something)I actually don't like some of the BIZ practices but they do have a great OS in 2K. And lets not forget about being able to kill a NON-Responding program with 2K it's a snap and you keep going.. With Win9X you restart your computer by pushing the reset button. But that is my view on things and everyone has one. The last thing I do want to say is SMP(Multi Prosessor)is the best way to go if you want Windows 2000 to shine under all conditions. Regards Jim
