Is there a way to force XP to skin older applications?

Removing bus mastering drivers and reverting 4 in 1 drivers to 4.24 fixed my problem with Plextor.

I have also samo problem with Nero. Maybe I just have to remove those drivers and try again.

I have to se DMA enabled and that's because I have only one cd-rom drive and I don't want my drive to hog nearly 100% cpu time when reading a disk. But I think I have found sollution. I have KT7-RAID and I used 106MHz FSB (8.5 multiplier) IDE was 33MHz but that matters for Plextor. Now I have 100 FSB (9.0x) and 33MHz IDE and my Plextor seems to work alright. 10 succesful test burns with those settings. ------------------ ---- Parasoul ---- http://rasta.cult.tpu.fi/~parasoul/

Does anyone know how to change DMA mode between 0-2 in Windows 2000? My bios doesn't allow to change them, only enable / disable. Iäm having strange freezes with Plextor 8/4/32 ide drive with DMA mode on. So mayby DMA mode 0 would work, just a guess.

But there is only options for explorer folder view. Is there any way to turn off active desktop thats on desktop's background?

Anyone have had luck with these two? I have instant lock-up when I try to play sound.

How long do you guys have been able to keep these new Abit / Asus motherbords up? I'm bying new mobo and I don't want to have motherborad that crashes after couple of days on.

Just found a way to cure this problem. Set display hardware acceleration one step down from full. Display Properties -> Advanced -> Troubleshooting

Anyone found any sollution for this problem?

Disabling / enabling didn´t help when last time I got this problem. I didn´t check ipconfig's output. Here's my setup: Only TCP/IP installed on W2K One Windows 98 computer One Linux conputer configured as firewall / router.

Sometimes my networking stops. No error messages, no nothing wich tells me that networking died. Only thing wich brings it back is reboot. Is anyone else having similar problems?
