Live!Ware 1.0 for Win2K, or how to kill Win2k in a few click
BlaZeR2 replied to GPSnoopy's topic in Hardware
Did you previously try to install any of the hacked or beta versions of liveware? I know that if you tried to install the hacked liveware 3 that was posted on NT compatible, then try to install either the beta liveware 1 or the final liveware 1, then it will automatically reboot as it is loading the sound drivers. The easiest and surest way to correct the issue is to reinstall windows 2000 on top of your current installation. It is basically the same as a repair function. you keep all your programs, don't have to reinstall anything, all your settings are the same, except it reinstalls all the original drivers for stuff. It worked for me..... BlaZeR2 -
Just a question.... is that file devldr32.exe part of liveware, or is it part of the creative labs DVD software? does anybody actually know what it does? just curious BlaZeR2

In Windowblinds (I am a registered user of Desktop Object), if you enable transparecy, it only activates transparent menus, such as the start menu, and the favorites, right click menus, etc.... The actual application you want is WindowsFX it is made by Stardock (same company that makes windowblinds). It allows you to set certain applications to start semi transparent (you set the percent visible). Example: I set my download meter to start at around 60% visible, then set it to always be on top. WindowsFX is only in beta form now (actually may be in alpha currently) but i think you can download a trial from download.com. There are other programs that call upon the transparency, like Winamp 2.60, the plug-in that comes with it has an option for transparency.... Keep in mind, that although transparency is very cool, it slows your system down considerably. BlaZeR2

Widnows 2000 includes support for transparent windows and menus. It was supposed to be included in the final version, but it was causing too many problems, so they didn't implement it. (this one of the reported 65,000 bugs, even though it isn't a bug!!!!) so the only way to get it now, is through other programs that make use of the alpha blending that is built in to 2000. Microsoft intentionally left the stand alone option to do it out. So if it cuases problems, then it is not Microsoft's fault, it is the makers of the other software. What you saw were probably pics of some developer's beta build when they were still working on getting the bugs out of the transparency code. BlaZeR2

Good job on getting it running well, however, from what I have read, you MUST install w2k with 2 processors if you want to take advantage of dual processors. In other words, since you installed the os with only one processor installed, and then stuck the other one back, chances are, it is still only utilizing 1 cpu. to get the dual power, you must install while running both processors. just some info BlaZeR2

What CD-R programe is the best under win2k for copyng protec
BlaZeR2 replied to Silent-IQ's topic in Games
The easiest and most acurate way to backup copy protected cds is with CloneCD. the new version works perfectly in W2K, it doesn't use an ASPI layer, and it can record most copy protected stuff without the use of cracks as long as you have compatible hardware. That is the only downfall of CloneCD. www.elaborate-bytes.com is the link, and no i don't work for them, or get any money for suggesting it, i just think it is a really nice little proggy.
