Can anyone suggest a video card?

I think ASUS makes boards based on NVIDIA chips that has videocapturing abilities. But I would recommend u to buy a separate PCI board for video-capture instead ince videocards become obsolete pretty fast At least I would since I got a V3 right now As for recommendations goes, I really don't know very much about these cards. But if there's anybody here on this msgboard that could recomend one please let us know.

    Monitor causes lockups on NT4

When I try to test different refresh rates on NT4 (Workstation) my setup (K6-3 40Mhz, MVP3-mobo, 128Mb RAM, MX300, V3 2000) My computer will go to a blank screen and freeze, this is rather annoying since it means I can't play games since it locks up when a resolution change occurs. I've tried Powerstrip and the resolution changes work, but when I try to play (with powerstrip still on) any game I get a blank screen since it can't change resolution The only game I know has worked is Quake2 but Baldur's Gate, Half-life do not work. I'm using the latest drivers and have no problems whatsoever on NT (except that one). Is there any way to "lock" refreshrates to resolutions on NT in the register? I would like to know If any of you have had a similar problem and solved it please let me know, I'm kinda desperate and pissed right now. Thanks

    DirectX Media Runtime for NT4

I found this on the M$ DirectX Website. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=11771 Is this update crucial for an NT4 system or do these updates already exist if you've installed the Microsoft Media Player 6.4?
  4. I have a V3 and whenever I try to change or test resolutions on NT4 (matching my graphics card's and my monitor's refresh rates) I get a blank screen (black actually) and the OS stops responding and I have to reboot. Is there anybody here that has experienced the same thing. I would really appreciate any kind of help. Thanks

    Half-life freezes on NT4

Whenever I try to switch to Fullscreen on Halflife regardless if it is software or OPENGL or using the MiniGL the screen will go black. The only thing left to do is reboot (which ticks me off). I managed to make it run _once_ at 640x480 and it worked perfectly but when I switched back to the menu an tried to switch back the same thing happened. So I tried to run the game in a window instead and it works except for the open and MiniGL modes. If there's anyone who have had this issue and fixed it please let me know cause I really don't know what to do. My system K6-3 400Mhz on a MVP3 mobo (SOYO 5EHM), 128Mb RAM PC100, V3 2000 AGP, Diamond MX300 I'm running Win NT4 with SP6a and latest 3dfx drivers and Half-life ver 1.0.1.6 (retail version not warez) I'll be thankful for any kind of help.

    FAT32 for Win NT4

There's a freeware system driver for WinNT4 on http://www.sysinternals.com/fat32.htm Quote: FAT32 is a FAT32 file system driver for Windows NT 4.0. Once installed, any FAT32 drives present on your system will be fully accessible as native Windows NT volumes. This free version provides read-only capabilities. A read/write version is for sale at the Winternals Software web site. I'm running a dualboot of Win98/NT4 and would benefit from this system driver's read/write capabilities since all of my games reside in a FAT32 partition. I've tried the read-only version and it works well but it's... read-only Have any of you tried the read/write version of this system driver? Does it work well? Is it stable? I would really like to know since I can't afford Win2k right now Thanks. [This message has been edited by pirinto (edited 05 March 2000).]

How to enable UDMA on NT4 on a K6-x system

Well it was about the backing up thing (now it's software related ). The thing is that when I backup (I use Powerquest Driveimage) either the NT or the Win98 partition and try to restore it, the whole mbr is wiped out and I can only boot to Win98 and the NTbootloader seems to be gone and I have to reinstall NT4 Are there any free tools that let you backup the mbr?. I know that there's one called disksave.exe on the NT resource kit, but I don't have enough cash to buy that one
  10. I have NT4 installed on my system (AMD K6-3 400Mhz, 128Mb RAM, SOYO 5EHM mobo (VIA MVP3 chipset) Quantum Fireball EL 7.6Gb has UDMA support)and I wonder if NT4 would benefit from the VIA 4in1 drivers (to enable UDMA33) for the VIA MVP3 chipset. I didnt find anything about NT on the VIA site's FAQ that's why I'm asking this. I'm running a dualboot setup of Win98/NT4.0 On the Win98 setup the 4in1 drivers are installed, the issues it fixes and the increase in performance are very noticeable. But I'm hesitating about installing the 4in1 (the busmaster drivers) drivers on NT4.0 since there's no documentation about it. I would like to hear your advice about this matter and if any of you had any similar experiences with this. My question is, should I install the busmaster drivers from the 4in1 package (that enables UDMA)or should I install the dmacheck.exe program from Microsoft that also enables UDMA. http://support.microsoft.com/download/support/mslfiles/Dmachcki.exe The reason about why I'm asking you all this is because an article I read about optimizing NT4. http://www.arstechnica.com/tweak/nt/udma.html I also found this: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q198/1/27.ASP?LNG=ENG&SA=ALLKB&FR=0 Please help me on this.
