No sound on Sound Blaster Live! Value with 70 Meg Liveware2K
DarkWolf replied to Brain Stew's topic in Hardware
Well Grimm, He probably got it the same place most if not all of us got it from. Why do you ask? ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. -
Well i have looked around quite extensivly through the help files and other sources and I'm at a loss for words. Sorry I didn't help you like I thought I did. Why do you need to adjust the Computer Description anyway? Just curious? P.S. I will probe further into the matter to see why I can find if anything. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Easist I found was to have windows do it for me instead of trying to do it through the Console and it worked fine for me. then after rebooting to W2K just restore your previous registy that you saved before the problem occured. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Green, Yellow, and Red -- A Guide for the Color Blind
DarkWolf replied to Syncope's topic in Slack Space
I couldn't agree more with you on that, but I would think that it would be better if you wrote a letter to the Person(s) who run this board and keep such information updated. They may just decide to do something about that. You just never know until you try. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. -
Well I must say it took me about 2 mins to find the answer for this one myself. Anyway what you do is click on the start menu button and then goto settings, then click on control panel, then dbl click on system then select the Network Identification tab then I believe you click on properties!!! ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Well here is an update from myself for those of you who have been keeping track of this thread. I did a fresh install of just W2K only with no other drivers loaded except the ones W2K uses, I found that I still had the sticky key's problem. I also noticed that after the install last night of W2K that after I got up in the morning to change some settings on W2K that for no apparent reason that my keyboard no longer worked. I found that the sticky's key's problem is more then just a problem. Since my first post I went to using a Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse(USB) and I still have the sticky key's in games. Also my theory didn't work out as I had thought it would. Also I want to say thanks to DosFreak for keeping the list updated. Also if anyone knows anyone or has another mouse laying around there house that is not a Logitech mouse. Please do me a favor and hook it up to your computer and play a game that you know you have had the sticky keys in. The reason for this is to try and set the record straight that is doesn't matter what kind of Mouse it it that you use and it is not the mouse that is causing the problem, and that the problem lies else where and that I ask you to do this since I saw another post on this board from someone saying that we were having this problem because we were all using(for the most part) Logitech Mice and that(for the most part) they were all PS2 Mice. But since this poll I have noticed that we all not all using Logitech PS2 mice and not all of them are PS2. So that is why I asked someone to use a differnet mouse other then Logitech and a Microsoft Mouse. Was curious if anyone has tried replacing some of the DX files that W2K installs with some of the drivers from W98(without running the install program to install them)to see if maybe that would fix the problem. Only reason for this is cause I sae a differnet Post where that the software company that made Rouge Spear said that it was a DX problem. Sorry about the post being so long and again keep the posts coming. Just be sure to metion which games and what type of mouse and whether the mouse is serial or PS2. Also DosFreak Thanks for your help in keeping the list updated for me. Please Keep up the good work. When I get a total of 30 different poeple with this problem I will compile the list and start sending it off to the Game companies and to MS themselves!!!! Again thanks to all!!! ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Hello Mickbench, I would just like to say that you are wrong on saying that you can't install DX6 on a W2K machine and I say this from personal experience as I have actually done it(was extermly tired and was running on only 3hrs of sleep, was not thinking clealy) anyway, after I installed it, it completly messed up my W2K install. SO anyone thinking about doing that You have Fair warning not to!!!! ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Hello all, Sorry it took so long to to get back to everyone on this topic, but I have been away networking this weekend and just got back not to long ago. My Purpose for this post was to get as many responses from the poeple on this msg board to respond to my original post so that I may collect a list of all users having the sticky key's problem and then bringing it to Microsoft's ATTN: as well and the game companies to see what they have to say about it and to see whether or not they are working on something at present time to fix this Well known problem for those poeple like myself who would like to use W2K for more then just business Apps. So please keep posting away!!!! and tell any of your friends that are having the prob to post as well. When I reach a certain amount of users who are hainvg this prob then I will print out the info and sort through it and redo the Poll in a plain TXT file and send it off too everyone. (Game companies and Microsoft) to see what they say. I will then wait for the replies from them and either one post them here or 2 post it on my web site!!!! Thanks to all those who have replied, unfortunately I don't think my thoery worked. To those of you who have a serial mouse and have this prob. Please tell me what W2K is using as the Mouse and Keyboard driver. Again thanks to all who have replied and please keep them coming in. Sorry this was so long!!! ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Anyone got problems with voodoo3 retail drivers for win2k
DarkWolf replied to Hellstorm's topic in Games
Hey HellStorm, Where did you get the beta drivers for the V3 card? I would like to have them to see if they would make a difference in some of my games. If you could post a link as to where to get them I would appreciate it!!!! ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. -
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that the Gamma level in Shogo is way to dark under W2K. I have the Latest driver's from 3DFX for my V3 2000 and a Clean install of W2K. I have installed the 3DFX tools which allow you to adjust the gamma for Desktop and D3D and OGL, but I noticed that the D3D option is grayed out on it. Is there another way to make the game brighter? Thanks for the Reply's in advance ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Hello Kaos, Well to me it sounds like you have another hardware problem other then the SBLive, I have the SBLive Value as well and I don't have that problem, (though my mouse and network card do share the same damn IRQ for some reason). Anyway if you have a dual boot system setup like most of us seem to have, then my suggestion would be to boot to 98 and then restart the W2K install and then choose to have it repair the installation, and to let the installation do the repair work all on it's own since you and probably the rest of us wouldn't know what is causing that. That should take care of any prob's you might have. Also if I were you I would post your system spec's to the board here, there may be another solution to the problem other then the one I suggested from someone else here on the board. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but perhaps if you try the later of my problem solver you might be able to fix it another way. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Hello all, It was great of you guy's to Up The SBLive drivers for W2K, and I as most everyone else installed them fine. But I noticed 2 thing's that it is doing and was wondering if anyone else has had the same prob as I am. Fresh install of W2k Pro and SBLive! (70MB. After the install I noticed 2 thing's that the SBLive! was doing. I have the Live! Value. 1. When booting W2K I noticed that windows startup sound was extremly LOUD and after it was done it would then Initialize the actuall SBLive! Drivers that I installed and the sound would be normal again. Any ideas of what might be doing this? 2. I noticed that when I click on the Diagnostic's of the Launcher Bar and then click on each of the tab's it say's that my drivers aren't installed correctly and that i should Re-install. Any help on either of those 2 prob's and I would be great. Also I do know that they are Beta since I didn't get from from Creative's Web site. Here is my System Spec's: Intel Dakota 440LX MB(Dual CPU support) Only one CPU right now, 128MB, 2.1UW2 IBM HD, 6.4 and 5.1 WD UDMA HD, Kenwood 42x CD-ROM, ZIP 100, and 4x SCSI CD-ROM. V3 2000 AGP. Latest Bios Version installed. Latest Video Drivers installed. Again any help would be nice. ------------------ As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

SBLive Initialazation and W2K Very Loud when starting up
DarkWolf replied to DarkWolf's topic in Hardware
No it doesn't, and you and myself are probably right, it is probably just a Liveware thing. Hope they get that fixed and a few other prob's I have noticed. DarkWolf ------------------ As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. -
SBLive Initialazation and W2K Very Loud when starting up
DarkWolf replied to DarkWolf's topic in Hardware
Well PreatorJudis,I don't mean to sound rude or anything else like that, But I know windows does that. But I also know that NT4 and Win98 do that as well, but on both of them after installing LiveWare it would Initilaize the card or software then play the startup wav. So it is either W2K or Liveware that is at fault. and I would think that it is LiveWare since it doesn't do that in 98 or NT4. Not to metion that "pop" noise is very annoying and it never use to do that on the first Liverware software that they had. Again if I sound rude or anything I'm sorry i don't mean to be. Hello All, I too had the same prob like you guy's and I also tried the Bios thing as well and still the same thing. Easist way to work around that is to install 98 then start the install of W2K, then when the puter reboot's turn off the puter, then just disconnect the drive cable's from the IDE Drives. then turn computer back on and finish the installation. Then just reconnect after that and Bam. SBLive Initialazation and W2K Very Loud when starting up
DarkWolf replied to DarkWolf's topic in Hardware
Well I would like to say thanks to Acid and Mark W for their posts even though it didn't help my problem, but just glad to know that someone read my post. Also glad to know that Mark W is not the only one experiencing the same thing I am about it being very loud at Startup. Mark W: I myself haven't experienced it coming from only 2 speaker's like you. I can here it from all four. Please if anyone else has some insight to this problem or know's what can be done to fix it please let us know. Thanks P.S. Mark W My bad i just restarted W2K and I did notice it only comes from 2 speakers when it starts. Looking into the problem some more. Hello to all, Well I noticed on here that everyone was saying Q3 was noticably slower under W2K then it was under W98 and I too looked into this and found that I also dropped about 3-5fps myself. I did some experimentation with the GL drivers both from W2K and the latest V3 Retail drivers. My conclusion was that I found out that I regained those 3-5fps back by renaming the 3DFXOGL.DLL file in the system32 directory to 3DFXVGL.DLL. Now keep in mind that I have a V3 2000 AGP running under W2k(Build 2195) 128MB PC-100 Ram, PII-333. Any ?'s just post them here Hope this helps out those people who worry about FPS at least more then I DO ------------------- ------------------ As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.
