NOTE!!!! I heard from a web site saying that all the 52x Model Kenwood Drives were faulty when they were shipped. So check with their Web Site and see what they have to say about them. before trying the Information Below. Well here is what I found with my 42x Kenwood CD-ROM drive, it might work for you if not then you might try re-installing W2K and retry my idea. Goto control panel, system, hardware (tab), Device Manager, then IDE/ATA ATAPI Controlers, then double click, then left click on the controler that your CD-ROM drive is connected to, then select Properties, then Advanced Settings, then select DMA if Possible for the transfer mode. (Will NEED to REBOOT to have changes take effect). Then chec the settings after reboot to see if the Current Transfer Mode says DMA Mode. if it does then your all set. If not then try a fresh install of W2K again. If that doesn't work. then make sure your BIOS is set for auto on all IDE devices. If still no go after all that, then Return the Drive and get a different one if you can. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Well i'm sorry to hear that everyone has had horror stories with the Official LiveWare Drivers from Creative. I read all the posts and saw all these problems everyone was having and was at first scared to install them. Well i took the chance and installed them. I have not had any problems with them except for the same problem I had with the Leaked LiveWare drivers I got. Also note that before I installed the Official Drivers I uninstalled the Leaked LiveWare drivers first and deleted the directory that was associated with them and also looked for any files left over and deleted them as well. then I did a reboot and then installed the official drivers and then rebooted again and well it works on mine except for previous minor stuff that also happened with the Leaked Liverware. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

What do you have for your Full Computer Name and your Workgroup? You can find out under the Network Identification tab. Because I think I have found your answer? Also tell me what you want the New one to be. Also tell me what it comes up with for your computer as if you were looking for it through network neighborhood. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Plese do a search from now on before posting and you will find that W2K already has DX7.0a installed when W2K is installed. If you try and install DX7.0a you will get that MSG. Also if you try to install a lower version of DX then you will mess you W2K installation up, forcing you to have to Re-install W2K. I know this from personal experience. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Yeah, I too would like to know if this Liveware is newer then the previous beta that was floating around here on this msg board earlier. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Oops my bad on that one, was half asleep when I read his post. So sorry to all who got upset at me if anyone did. Anyway I would like to say that every sound card that I have ever had that was made by CL has never put a headphone jack on the back of their cards, and I have owned the SB16, AWE64 Value, and SBLive Value. On another note, a couple of my friends have owened the AWE32 Both Non-PNP and the PNP models and they didn't even have a headphone jack. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. Ultrix, please be more specific as to what you want to do I may be able to help you, but I'm not sure about what it is exactly that you are trying to do. Cause I have never had a problem of say playing a CD Audio track and having it being recorded at the same time to say a wav file. Thanks ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Well Polarcat I will send them to you and I hope they help. Just thought I would reply to you here first before sending them just in case you were keeping track of the board and don't have an auto email checker going like I do. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

An update for you, I found out that the 82371AB/EB is(at least ofr me) what controls the power management features of your computer. Found that out by poking around the registry. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Well polarcat, I went through the files you sent me and I couldn't see any real difference between any of them, except for the difference of the 2 .INF files that W2K and Win98 uses. The difference was that the W2K INF file for some reason has your particular modem on it's exclude list where as the Win98 on doesn't. So my suggestion would have to be the same as spades. Here is what you should try: first in W2K uninstall the modem, then rename all the MDMUSRG.INF files that W2K may be using. Then after that COPY the MDMUSRG.INF file from Win98 x:\windows\inf folder and copy it to W2K x:\winnt\inf folder. Then either restart W2K or have W2K redetect your modem. To get W2K to redetect your modem go to: Settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager, the lift click and select Scan for Hardware Changes. it should then detect your modem and you should then be all set. Hope that work's ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

When you try to dial out and when you modem access the phone line can you hear the dial tone? If so can you hear the number being dialed? If so can you still hear the dial tone during and after the number is being dialed? If you can then you may want to check your telephone number that it is trying to dial. Make sure that if you have to dial a 9 or 1 that is is there with the number. Try this post first before trying the other. Hope this help's, if not I will keep trying to help you. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.
-
Did you try uninstalling the device and then have windows redetect it. If you did my next suggestion would be to try and use the .INF file that win 98 uses to setup the modem. if that doesn't work then please send me screen shot's of all the dial-up properties windows. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Well now, just what the hell are you talking about, don't post a warez sites here and who the hell are you referring too? ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Not sure what that function does, but I have it listed in my hardware and there is no question mark by it. You may want to try and remove it and then reboot windows or tell the device manager to refresh so that it redetects it and see what happens. I have the Dakota 440LX MB and it say's mine is working fine. Sorry I can't give you any other info then that. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

DELL'S Live!ware for Win2000 missplaces a file or two.
DarkWolf replied to FKTOAST's topic in Hardware
Well I looked up on my system of where it installed that file and on my system it is located in the NT\SYSTEM32 folder, so try moving it there instead and then see what happens. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. -
Couldn't help but to notice that you guys were comparing what cards had what as far as headphone jacks and where they are located on the card. Well i'm not one to argue, so I won't. Just thought all of you would like to know that CL didn't make the MX400 sound card as stated by Fusion himself. ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Stupid ?, but did you run the Make new connection in the network and dial-up connections? ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight.

Hello, just noticed this post here and thought I would put this link up for you and anyone else who might be interested in more info on Whistler. http://www.wininformant.com/display.asp?ID=2562 ------------------ DarkWolf As I walk through the Darkness and the Shadows of the Night, you should be wary as you are never out of my sight. P.S. From what I have read it sounds to be pretty good and it's core is based on W2K, but also I read that is is suppose to be an intended target for the end users and I believe more game friendly [This message has been edited by DarkWolf (edited 18 March 2000).]
