Did you try Last Known Good Configuration? It worked for me. I then uninstalled the software and changed to Nero. Problem solved.

The Win2K drivers for these printers are finally available for download at: www.canon.com.au I have not had any problems.

Ok then, if I create (?) a VPN with the PC at work can I assign an IP address that has the same first 3 numbers as the computers on the network at work? This is required by the licence agreement. The network Adm. is not very helpful because they do not allow outside penetration of the network. What about this PCAnywhere software? This should work, if I run the software remotely, but what about the performance. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks alot Bertl. The printer installed with out an issue. I did not get any errors like you described. No reboot either. Thanks again, I can now get rid of my Win98 installation and change to the NTFS partition. The site for the NT4 driver is canon.com - North America.

Hey Bertl, could you please explain how you got the driver installed, I tried the hack and it does not install. Maybe I am forgetting something? thanks

Sorry for the ignorance, but I do not have very much experience with networking, so bare with me please. I have a advanced numerical simulation package that is locally installed on the PC in my office. This software is licence protected. It verifies the user quotta by invoking a network check. The check is performed by evaluating the licencing agreement coded in the administration software. This software is invoked each time the software is loaded. Further, each IP address check is recorded and looged on first instalation (all users must belong to the group). The server computer can be any PC attached to the network, however, it can not be changed after the licencing agreement is made. Further, no hardware can be changed in the PC either. These are used as checks I guess. However, any other PC can have the software installed as long as it can see the server PC fir the licence check. The PC in my office and at home both have W2K Prof installed. So, this is what I would like to be able to do: Run the software from my home. Is this possible, if so, what is required. Any suggestions on how this can be accomplished would be most helpful.

I am using an EPOX MVP3G2 mobo and I have not problems at all. The APCI computer type is installed and my power mangement controller is recognized, and functions properly. My bios data is 03/2000.

I have a K6-2 500 with an Epox motherboard. No problems. Actually, I have increased the FSB to 112, with a 4.5X and Win 2000 reports it as a 504. MS also released a KB article about the AMD K6-2 450 CPU with Win98SE. The article mentions that the DXdiag tool will report the CPU as 266 or something like that. Maybe, this same problem is in Win2000. I never had any of these problems with either OS. I would suspect that your motherboard is not correctly supported, and therefore passing the wrong info though the OS calls. I would check with your supplier for new drivers, MAYBE ??

I just found out that the canon BJC 5100 printer driver for Win2000 will be released in May/2000. Check the oceanic web site for details. www.canon.com.au

I have a USB plustek scanner (1212U). The NT4 drivers and 9X drivers do not work with Win2K (2195). If anyone has some suggestions for getting this scanner to work, please let me know.
