  1. I got into partitioning to easily seperate my harddrive and to make backing up/reformatting easy. But, I ended up making a partition that I no longer want.

Here is what I want to change:

On my backup 80 gig hardrive, I have 3 partitions.

The first is 10gigs, the second is 10gigs, and the third is 60gigs (smaller, but thats what they basically are). I want to unpartition the 2 ten gig hardrives and make them into one partition. I have nothing on the first 10 gig partition, but I have all my game installs on the second 10 gig partition.

How can I go about making these into one partition?

This is all in windows xp pro corp sp1a & all drives are NTFS.

  2. So, I want to block popups but I dotn want to run extra programs. is there a way I can restrict well known popup places like ad.whatever from even opening?

If there is such a way does anyone know where I can get a huge list to the popup sites?

Also, if it is not possible, is there a very small well known application that can do this task that is not cheap ass and not overbearing? also a frequently update list would be nice.

  3. Weulp, that sorta works... I can view a tree of just the computer names but I still would like a classic view in the normal window aswell. But yeah, it'll do for now if there is no other way. Life up here at Susquehanna university is good. This is my second year and I am liking far better than the first already smile

If you were wondering, I got really into photography. Here are a few select digital pieces I have: www.susqu.edu/students/a/ahnell

I dont have much webspace so the page is limited and I dont have a slide scanner so there is no way I can scan all my 'good' work that has come from nikon fg SLR camera....

  4. On my system if I play counterstrike in OpenGL mode it makes the screen a small 800x600 quarter of the screen box in the upper left hand corner of my 1600x1200 desktop... (its not in a windowed mode, its just 1/4 of the game showing in the corner of the screen).

If I run the game in direct 3d mode and switch back to a menu from the game, it crashes by making the screen blank when in menus.

How do I fix this? Any clue... I am veague, but I am sure someone had this problem.

Also, what is the console command to turn off the max fps and to set the hunk megs memory size the game usese?

  5. ok, screw 2 processors and a gig of ram and screw 2 games at once.

    We will be playing:

    SOF2

    Wolfenstein

    Medal of Honor

    Quake

    Quake 3

    Unreal Tournament

    Unreal Tournament 2

    Counterstrike

And what ever else floats our boat at the time.

My guess is that there will be about 15ish people on it max

  6. I want to setup a dedicated server next year on my college dorm hall. What would be the minimum server requirements to run or even 2 games on it?

I am guessing it would not have to be high at all since I served at the beginnign of the year on my old 500mhz 192mb pc100 machine as I was playing on it (not dedicated which uses like WAY less)

  7. Well I just reformatted after I got my replacement motherboard and video card. Just sortin **** around right now and am wondering what else I should get? Any little programs out there I should get for it? An example of what I am looking for would be this:

A while back on NTCompatible I found a program that let you uninstall/install everything on xp. Now this included letting me actually uninstall windows messager and other little shitty things that I could always remove in 9x. Now being months later I dont have those links.

    So what should I get?

Also where is that clear type tweak page?

  8. I liked the old style of how to view the computers in network neighborhood where it would just say that name of the computer. Now it puts the name of the user and then the computer name... Is there a way to switch that back, or make the computer name then user name, or make a seperate spot for the username?

The new view gets very confusing and it way hard to read.

  9. have my winxp machine attached to a network at school. Before I had the admin set me up an account (which I cannot physicaly do) I made myself Administrator on the computer.

When I got hooked up to the network, I had to start all over with my profile and such so I made my new Ahnell.SEIBERT name as an administrator aswell.

Well, I wanted my old setting so I coppied the old administrator folder into the Ahnell.SEIBERT folder. But that did not work. Some funkey **** went on and It turned out that I also had the account Ahnell when I log on to the seibert domain... So basically I ended up coppying all of the contents in my origional Administrator folder into my ahnell and ahnell.SEIBERT folders.

Well, now when I take my computer home for break, everything will be messed up. All my settings for school domain logon will be under another profile while I will be on Administrator.

Got all that? Its confussing but here is what I am asking:

Can I Manage the profiles so all of my settings are based in one folder, so when I switch to Administrator, of If I switch to my school domain logon name, they both have the same settings?

    Thanks.

I "was" using Windows 2000 awhile ago and got rid of it because it simply stinks. I rather have better compatibility in return for the odd error or two, then have a stable OS and nothing working right. That's why it's stable, cause they made sure next to nothing works on it, they "babied" it to get it working right. Crappy apps, games and hardware support, but it's stable. Now i like Windows 2000 because of it's features, but if w2k is not going to run programs well then forget it. There was only 1 program, one that i use a lot, called RPGMaker 95. I was done testing all of my games and apps with windows 2000 and discovered they all ran, last proggy on the list was RPG Maker, go to start it, doesn't work. Because of 1 program not running, which happened to be the one i use a lot, i had to uninstall windows 2000

  11. I have the same exact problem.

I also have a biostar mobo.

I never found a solution after months and months and months of trying.

The only temp solution for me was to put my hd in another persons computer, install windows, and then when it wants you to restart for the first time, put your hd back in your machine with the win2k cd in your drive and everything from there on will work. I think it is some problem that biostar had because they will not update their mobos bios and that really ticks me off! Best bet is to try and sell your mobo, btw, mine is for sale.
