I love the ATI Radeon cards, go for one of them!!!! Read the reviews, 32 Bit hi-res the ATI card kicks ass!!! Ned
-
I also had many problems running my Nvidia card on win2000 and an Athlon 750. I eventually got everything running well, however not even close in comparison to my ATI Radeon DDR card in 32 Bit hi-resolution. This card is sweet........do it!!! Ned

Well I have run all available O.S. out there and will say that Win2000 is the most stable forward-thinking O.S. out there. So if you are Nostalgic and still Own 3.11 on floppy, keep waiting, soon things will be left to A.I. and the Operating System will no longer need us. Ned

Oh yeah, it will be just like "The Matrix"................so go back to sleep. Ned [This message has been edited by Kyosho46vr (edited 08 August 2000).]

Win2k Startup takes about a year...
Kyosho46vr replied to CeRbErO's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Well I have the much debated FIC SD11 mother board and my system boots and is usable in 45 seconds and I am really happy. My System: Fic SD11 K-7 750 Kingston 256 Meg Ram Cas 2 Fujitsu 10.5 Gig (O.S) Western Digital 13.5 gig Radeon 32 DDR Video Card SB Live! X-Gamer Dxr3 CL DVD Card Netgear FA310TX CL 6X DVD ROM HP 8200 Plus CD-Writer Linksys 1 Port DSL Router Westtel ADSL Modem Mustek 600 III Pus Scanner Epson Stylus 400 Quickcam VC USB .........and it all works!!! Ned -
Is this an external ADSL modem using the PPP/OE protocal? I have a Westell modem and the only driver disk it came with was for the PPP/OE protocal. But I have a Linksys ADSL router and it handles the protocal itself. Ned

I have this same board and had my TnT2 working but I didnt load any drivers for the card I used th W2K inherent drivers and let them be. Also do-not load any bus-mastering drivers, in 5-6 days I would have data corruption and lose my O.S. Hope This Helps Ned E-mail me if you want more info or use ICQ Ned [This message has been edited by Kyosho46vr (edited 06 August 2000).]

This is the best thing I have bought in awhile!!!!! Now I can connect all my machines (4) with 1 IP address and it was easy to configure!!!!! Ned

Well I have had DSL for a year and a half now paying 110.00 a mont h for ISP and the dedicated line. I am really jazzed with ADSL. I did not load PPP/OE on my W2K machine I bought a Linksys DSL/Router and it is ready for the PPP/OE protocal. I have up to 5 machines hooking at times. The ADSL modem is fast and I have not been bumped from the connection as of yet. Ned

I just got A ATI Radeon 32DDR. When I try to watch a DVD the ATI player doesnt play it just sits there no error. I have A Dxr3 card in the machine as well, Creatives DVD player works great. Are they conflicting? The reason I kept both card in the PC is because the 32 DDR Radeon doesnt have TV out Any thoughts? Ned

For what it is worth The Radeon cards are GREAT!! I run 32 Bit hi resolution and it kicks butt!!! Ned
-
With my TnT2 card and my Athlon I also had lockups. The latest drivers fixed that problem and I have run all games all day. Does your card have a fan on the heat sink? When I got my Creative TnT2 card it didnt and I fussed and fussed with drivers until I read an over-heating post on the creative news groups. Ned

The card is GREAT!!!!! I am an ATI guy from now on. With my Nvidia based cards I fought drivers and suggested bios setups. No more, this card blew in and the drivers worked great in all games, so in ten minutes I was smiling. My 32 Meg TnT2 card I tried to sell to a friend and set it up in his system. Tweak, change, fuss, he had no patience to get the card running stable he gave up. For my DVD question hear is my system: FIC SD11 Athlon K7-750 Kingston 256 Meg Ram Radeon 32DDR Video Card SB Live X-Gamer Dxr3 DVD Card Creative Netgear FA310TX NIC Creative 6X Encore DVD Drive HP CDR + 8209 Burner Fujitsu 10 GIG ATA66 Western Digital 13.5 GIG ATA66 Hitachi CM751 19" Monitor Tia Ned [This message has been edited by Kyosho46vr (edited 29 July 2000).] [This message has been edited by Kyosho46vr (edited 29 July 2000).]

I have 2 machines networked, 1 win98 and 1 win2000. They file and print share, also I have a DSL connection into the hub. My second drive(storage) is shared(win2000). Both drives are shared on the win98 machine but pass-worded. I set the permissions in win2000 as the win98 computer name and its own pass word. At work (where I am now) we also have dsl(same provider)I can "find" both of my machines at home, i can access files on the win98 machine with the pass-word. However when I try to access my win2000 machine the resource = (IP Number)PC$, you cant change this, and then askes for as pass word, nothing, even the pass-word works here. So the way I understand this is I change the computers name at work to match, say my win98 at home and the I could access, or add in permissions works computer name and a pass-word. Any Thoughts? TIA NED

When ever I load the VIA drivers, mainly IDE busmastering, my system corrupts with in a week. This was true for Win98 or Win2000. So I dont load any VIA drivers. I leave the System Win2k drivers as loaded for the first time. Fic SD11 MB Athlon 750 Kingston PC100 256 Meg Enlight Case ATX CL Riva TnT2 SBLive! Value Netgear FA310TX CL Dxr3 DVD Card Ned

I had an Athlon 500, I just got a 750. YES buy a faster processor, you will love it. I run 2020 Cabinet Cad, Corel Draw and numerous games, well worth the $$$$, dont hesitate, dont think its not a big deal, you will smile and life will glow!! Ned

I Have an Fic SD11 with 256 meg of Ram. I have a CL Riva TnT2 32 Meg card. I run Corel Photo Paint a lot. Any suggestions or experiences? TIA Ned
-
I run a Athlon 750 on a SD11 and dont have any locks. But it was trial and error. My TnT2 CL card caused many problems when loading drivers that weren't on the Win2000 cd. As well the VIA drivers caused data corruption with my ata66 drives. So after a learning curve my Win2000 machine runs well and I am quite pleased. Ned
-
So what did you do to fix the problem? Restore using CD or a neat trick we would all like to know? Ned

Hey, lets remember why we use computers, for information and communication, however you do it, those items are legit in life. And I will not down some-one and say you cant afford ....... you cant have it, this industry has grown due to the ability of the masses to use it, wether it is legit or not. If you are worried about who has a "real" copy and who doesn't, then you are too blinded......turn that focus inward. My 2 rubels Ned
