Does anybody know if people or companies who subscribe to MSDN will have to do the activation for windows xp. I thought i read somewhere that they will turn that feature off for MSDN subscriber.
-
Well they did it for Windows ME beta series. And now they are doing it for Whistler, i would assume they will be doing it for later OS's. Just my assumption though.

CAn you install Windows 2000 drives in whistler? I tried and i get all these dev*32.exe errors. I deleted it and now i don't get it.. but also i don't get the 4 speaker surround and eax.. Was just wondering if this a whistler problem or just a problem with my system?

Ok, Thanks.. I guess i'll wait and see what happens. Thanks for your info.

Do you have it installed? And where are you getting your information from? [This message has been edited by Ryanrk (edited 11 January 2001).]

Quote: Originally posted by CUViper: ok, so did they post it like they said they would? is it really beta 2? Well, i downloaded it and installed it and all over the installation it said Microsoft Whistler Beta 2. So i feel it's Beta 2 but according to everybody else in here it's not. Which makes me wonder if it's not beta 2 then why does it say beta 2 all thoughout the installation.

Man, if you want to believe its Beta2, go ahead. I'm just telling you what i read. If 2410 is pre-beta 2 then let it be that. I'm just defending my position in saying that On there website they claim it's Beta2.

Ummmmm, yea it wierd you would think microsoft would put it up first. Anyway i thought build 2410 has been out for a few days? well it's on nonags, been downloading it all night. They state it's beta2. During the ME beta testing nonads had some of them up usually the night before microsoft did.
-
Whistler beta2 is out, it's on nomads right now. Build 2410 (i guess it's been out for a few days now). They state it's the official Whistler Beta 2 (is it?). D/l it as i write! it's not on msdn yet. Might be there later.
-
Well, that's what it says on there website, it's not up yet. I also have a msdn account and it isn't there either.

Quote: Originally posted by CM: Really? Even the latest build? They have Beta 1 right now build 2296 but so does microsoft's msdn account. So there up to date with that. I dont' think 2410 has been released to the msdn or to nonags yet. They might wait until they release beta 2 before putting it up, i dunno though. I got mine though my msdn account. www.nonags.com has it but you have to pay for there plus program to get it which is $30 but you get a lifetime membership, they have some kind of agreement with microsoft to distribute it, they had the whole ME beta series on there and they usually get it when all the beta testers do. Besides that i'm not sure where to go. There's a faq on this site that tells you another place also.

Sheesh jdulmage, his other question is totally unrelated to this one and i don't understand how you can even relate the two. ]

You have to realize though, Windows95 was new technology, it was nothing like any other operating system. Now Windows95 has been though alot of changes. win98, winME. Microsoft basically has that kernel down and the NT kernel, So when they release a new NT kernel i'm not to afraid because they basically use there own code over again but add new features. So for Whistler it's basically win2k with new features, I found win2k running great, and also i found Whistler running great with some minor bugs that should be expected in a beta. Like features that don't work and stuff. Now if microsoft releases a new Kernel and starts a beta program on it i would be reluctant to try it, since it's new. Understand my thoery?

I was told that if your on there Beta team that you get a new build every week.

I've been having the exact same problems. Using win2k profession, and can't get opengl to work. Any ideas. I have CL tnt2 ultra

Have another issue, I fully installed it (500meg) and it loads just fine but when i go to play 'Porsche Test Driver' after the first race when i press esc to go to the second race windows2k does a memory dump and restarts my computer, does it everytime. Any suggestions??? I have my minumum page file at 384 and max at 600, i've changed it to 256 and 500 but it still did the same thing... ??? I have 256megs of ram on my PC.
-
Ok, i did a reinstall of win2k (probalby a little extreme but decided too) and i set my page file to 256. I don't get any memory dumps with NFS5 but i do get lockups, i experience a few lockups with games taht use direct3d only, I can run opengl games just fine.. I'm using the latest creative labs drivers and so forth. [This message has been edited by Ryanrk (edited 16 September 2000).]
