anyone know how to schedule a reboot for their win2k machine? thanks
-
hi, i run a half life gamming server. and every so often hlds crashes. when it crashes an error window comes up and says "hlds.exe has crashed blah blah... creating an error log" and then it has on OK button. this is fine normally. but i have a proggy that restarts hlds once it crashes. but the error window prevents it from doing so until i click ok. this can be troublesome. does anyone know if this error message box can be disabled? is it a service? any help is appriciated

well i just upgraded one of my older computers to win2k and now i can't find win2k compatible drivers for my Info Imagereader Express flatbed scanner. after reading around i heard that Avison (or something like that) made drivers that would work with it. so i tried all of Avison's flatbed scanner drivers with no success... any ideas anyone? is there a generic TWAIN driver i could try? something? anything? any help is appriciated

Whenever i start the viewer VNC my computer reboots within about a minute of using VNC. this is very disconcerting... any suggestions on how to stop the reboots? (i have all the win2k updates)

I am running win2k. I have two instances of scvhost.exe in my task manager processes. i remember that there used to be only one instance. but now there are two. is this normal? could it have been called up by another program? i have only Serverwatch start up with windows, and uninstalling it seems to have on effect on the second schost.exe running. any ideas on why it is there?

I just purchased a wintv w/ remote. i am fairly pleased with it. except that the remote control program does not start or stop the wintv software like it is supposed to do. the same goes for the radio program (but i really don't care for that). i would just like to press the TV button and have the tv program started... the channel changing, volume, number buttons, and mute all work fine... help?

I feel your pain guys... but after reading your posts i still had to go get the compatibility patch. after installing it i am pleased to say that my counterstrike (all i really care about... in this world) works... i don't know about halflife but i assume that if counterstrike works halflife would as well. I have a Creative TNT2U with the 5.16 drivers on my win2k box if that helps anyone out.

well it didn't work for me. while i read these forums i get the feeling that people assume that if something works for them it must work for everyone. stop generalizing ones results with another. the bp6 final bios did not work well with me. i also read at bp6.com that "Users are reporting an SMP problem." thats all they said, but it does show that this is not the perfect bios upgrade.
-
yes... after i installed the official bp6 bios my video only worked in 256 colors... otherwise i was getting inverted colors in 16 bit and 32 bit... thinking that it was my tntultra's fault i went to the creative faq page and confirmed that my bios settings were correct. when i rolled back to the beta bios everything worked fine again... the new bp6 bios works for some... but not me!
-
Go for it. it should work fine. too bad for you you missed all the waiting previous sblive owners experienced!

win2k and aol 5 work fine
-
actually i had the same problem you did... everyone said roll back to the 3.66 drivers for your tnt and that would fix it... but it didn't... what did fix it though is these new beta 5.13 drivers... pick those up and install them (at your own risk of course) and give em' a whirl.

Well consider yourselves lucky... after installing the wonderful win2k sblive drivers i get the blue screen as well.. then my computer promptly reboots and greets me with the same blue screen... but the best part is i get the same bluescreen when i try to boot into safe mode... reinstall time? i hope that solves it because i don't know what else to do short of formatting... bp6 dual 500's sb gamerx soundcard creative tnt2ultra 256 ram win2k prof

This is not really important, but i was wondering if there was a way to enter in a description of my computer for my network. It was easy to do with win9x but in win2k i can't find anything to do with it. I have searched the help file and poked around but i can't find anything that sheds light on this. Can it be done?

the new 3.81 drivers have caused my problems with me and my creative tnt2u... if i try to change video settings in Q3 or when i exit out of halflife i get program errors... if you guys aren't having problems great... but to me it seems the 3.78 drivers are more stable
-
Since i installed the 3.81 drivers i couldn't change any video settings in Quake3 and halflife would periodically give an error while exitting. when i rolled back to the 3.78 drivers everything worked fine again. maybe none of that is happening with you guys but i am going to hold off until a official release!

eh, i am on a college and i want people to know that i am offering files... my computer must be named by my room number so i can't name it file_serve or anything like that... so i was looking for the desciption setting... thanks for your help!
-
Thanks for the reply but i have looked here and the does not contain a computer description... i contains settings for your computer name and workgroup, no computer DESCRIPTION. look at a win98 setup if you want to know what i mean.

If you use to dell drivers your digital out should work... they dell drivers are posted in the ntcompatible hardware section, but sadly the link is now dead... i suppose dell doesn't like other people using their software
