  1. Echo.. Do you use Ghost copy? If so just make a copy of your existing harddrive and restore after the hardware upgrade. This will save your time in re-installing everything. Prum555

    How to delete unused pagefile.sys?

ChristianB Thanks for your suggestion. Forgot to mention that I use NTFS and DOS bootdisk won't work with NTFS. BTW, I used Norton's Cleansweep to locate the file and removed it. BTW, Perfect Disk is a very good utilities that is an altermative to Executive's Diskeeper.... Thx. prum555
  3. Hi.. I have 2 hard drives in my system and I assigned the pagefile to my second hard drive. When I ran Perfect Disk it reported that the pagefile.sys in my first hard drive is still there and is very fragmented. How can I remove it from my system? Any suggestion? TIA. ;( Prum555

    cd-rom auto eject

Guys... I recently upgraded to Win2k + SP2 from WinME. I have one problem with my CD-ROM after the upgrade. The CD-ROM drive tray automatically ejectes by Win2k whenever the drive is not in used. I have turned off CD-ROM auto detect and even increased the timeout value to 99 min in the CD-ROM device properties in Admin Tools / Computer Mgmt / Storage / Physical Locations. My config: Win2k + SP2 Intel D815EPEA Intel PIII 866EB 512Meg SDRAM @ 133MHz Maxtor 30g HDD @ 7200rpm + UDMA66 Creative 52x CD-ROM drive SB-Live Value ASUS v7700 Geforce2 GTS Pure Any suggestion? TIA.

    512Meg of SDRAM

Guys.. I finally have to give in and traded in my ASUS P3V4X mobo and replace it with an Intel D851EPEA mobo. Of course I need to replace my CPU chip also. One thing for good is that now I have no problem to upgrade to Win2000 and using AGP 4x. My current configuration is; Mobo : Intel D815EPEA CPU : PIII 866EB (have to give up my PIII 600EB slot!) Video : ASUS v7700 Geforce2 GTS 32Meg DDR SGRAM S/C : Sound Blaster Live Value HDD : Maxtor Diamond Max 40 - 30GB @ 7200rpm ATA-66 Mem : 512Meg DIMM @ 133Mhz and my 3DMark2000 score is 6502. So I am an happy face again. Kick in for another notch and a big BAM! Prum555

    512Meg of SDRAM

Brian, Clutch and Cynan Thanks for your good suggestions. I like to use Win2k if I can solve the IRQ problem. I agree with you guys about Win2k is a more stable platform since it is a full 32bit OS. I will keep on searching for an anwser to the problem of IRQ assignment. I will inform you guys by posting here if I have any findings. BTW, if you come across some good lead do send me a note at prum555@hotmail.com. Cheers and regards. For another notch and Happy Happy.. 512Meg of SDRAM

Cynan.. I'd tried Win2k before and I'd problem with the IRQs. The problem is Win2k assigns all IRQ of my peripheral cards to 9 and I've an ASUS v7700 Geforece2 PTS which hang since I could not assign a different IRQ manually (I've assigned IRQ 11 in the BIOS). Do you have any suggestion? BTW, I just got my additional 256Meg over the weekend. I will not say it rocks but the loading of programs are a bit faster even if I launch a couple of tasks consecutively. Sure ME will be able to handle 512Meg. Also when I used SYSINFO to display my memory after booting up ME it showed available physical memory was 365Meg. Seems like ME utilize 147Meg during bootup when I use 512Meg. Any idea if I use only 256Meg what will be the available physical mem then? Regards. Prum555

    512Meg of SDRAM

Guys.. I am using Windows ME and currently using 256Meg of SDRAM. With the current price of SDRAM dropping, I just wonder if I should get another 256Meg to make it 512Meg. Anyone like to share their experience? Thx.

    ASUS V7700 vs ASUS P3V4X

I came across another discussion thread in Insane Hardware. One guy had the similar problem and he suggested to turn off the FAST WRITE in the BIOS and the problem went away. I immediately made my change to my P3V4X Bios and viola it worked and I have been using it for the last 3 to 4 hours with no recurrence. I think this is the answer to my problem and I like to share with you guys.

    ASUS V7700 vs ASUS P3V4X

I recently bought a V7700 Pure and I have a lot of grieves using the new board. My system consists of the following Mobo : ASUS P3V4X Bios 1005 VIA 4in1 : 4.91a CPU : PIII 600eb RAM : 256MB @ 133mhz Video : ASUS V7700 Geforce2 GTS 32MB DDR Initially I am using Windows ME and the ASUS GFORCE2 Driver is 6.31c. Windows ME hang on me for a couple of times. I tried to use nVidia 10.08 and ASUS 5.33 drivers. Both cases didnot fixed the problem. This morning I boot up with W2K for the new board and use the ASUS 6.49 driver for NT. I encountered the same problem of system hang when I playing video or D3D games. Any suggestion?

    W2000 Pro Networking

After digging the Internet for some time I'd been abled to come across a newer version of Win98 Driver for ALN320 (Ver 1.2). Seemed like the driver from the installation diskette (ie 1.01) sucked. The new driver solved all my problems. Thx guys for your input.
