Try to grab a pci Voodoo 5500. Very cheap and runs fast and great under W2K. Keep your nvidia as primary display and switch to Voodoo for that game. The game should detect the presence of the Voodoo and switch to it automatically.

Hi! I dunno this game, but the error message clearly states that it wants a 3DFX card to run on. Glide is (was?) the proprietary 3DFX API. It is a kind of simplified and very fast open gl. Personally, I run some 'old' games like Unreal and Tournament on glide which is much faster that any other api. On my config, it is even better looking and faster than open gl or direct x.

8) Any of us who have already Evil Inside (bip bip-bip bip)I bet we are in bad shape. My theory is that the bip-bip sound logo is a coded message intended for HAL to activate some hidden and dreadful functions. I am not paranoid, I am just wondering why my webcam is looking at me that way...

Just digged further into the case. You are right. Can be downloaded with ie5 sp2 for win98 and nt4, but NOT win2k. I suspect some trick from M$. Well ... M$ is mainly tricks I downloaded from a specially configured NT4 workstation at work, then ripped off all relevant files, extracted reg keys, burned a cd, copied to a W2K partition on other computer, merged keys and ... it works What fun

Antoine, envoies-moi un mail. Je connais bien cette carte mère. On peut se contacter localement pour en discuter... Bien cordialement.

Yes, but it intalls IIS services in a "microsoft frontpage" directory under programme files. No Frontpage Express as such as it was with win98. I have it on my Win98 partition and I did not remember having done anything special to have it there because I do not use it. It was apparently also installed by default on my sister's previous win98 setup. 8) I am wondering though : could this app have been installed without me being aware during some WindowsUpdate session? She will kill me for sure Regards Frog

Oooooops! I must be very tired. Of course, Antoine stated a Slot one. The slocket story is true but I do not know about slot ones. The P3V4X was well-known as being a weird mobo anyway. Regards

Antoine, SLOCKET! ... the answer could be there. Some slockets do not transmit the internal diode signal properly if at all. It would be worth trying several of them. Just my guess

Hi! I am planning a new large intranet project, covering around 70 locations in 40 countries. My main concerns are about very decentralized content management and easy page design. Most potential local webmasters are not IT people. I would like them to be able to design, manage and publish their own sections of the portal without the assistance of IT which will be unavailable at many remote locations. This with minimum training, most of them being smart marketing and/or communications people. Hosting, administration, database design and all technical stuff will be centralised. Standard templates, graphics lay-out and processes would also be developped and maintained centrally. What in your opinion would be the easiest to use publishing tool for these people? Contenders are Frontpage, Open Market, Dreamweaver, Click and a few others. Some are pretty 'simple' wysiwyg easy to use tools, others are quite powerful and complex content publishing platforms. Has any of you smart guys had a similar issue to solve? Well ... my next bonus may depend on your valuable input

Well, some years ago my company made a competitive evaluation of Exchange and Lotus Notes. The outcome was that Exchange was cheaper but did not offered the powerful collaborative functionalities of LN, which was chosen in the end. People have got used to it and create very easily databases where they put their shared documents. Now, we have thousands of such databases around there. This is nice but puts a pretty burden on top of the infrastructure because of all those needed replications and huge storage space. And many databases have lost their owners over time which makes administration tricky. On the other hand, these databases, even those dead, constitute a huge asset of knowledge. This is the challenge. ----------------- Regards Frog

Powermike ... well ... are you Powermike, if you see what I mean?

No mail inf, rather collaborative data, folder structures where people/workgroups put any kind of documents like *.pdf, *.doc, *.ppt, *.xls, photos in any format, drawings and a bunch of Access or other kinds of databases. Well heterogeneous attachments and stuff they need to keep somewhere so that anybody can read and use. All that "public" content would be candidate to migration to web-based platform. Regards

Excellent Clutch, I am going to have a deep look at the Adobe suite and do some live evaluation. This may take some time before I get corporate IT guys buy-in but I'll let you know. Another question : will it be possible to link to Lotus Notes "legacy" databases? I have close to one gig of LN stuff to migrate one way or another. Best regards - Frog -

As far as as remember, Twain is a standard API - created by one hardware company long time ago, I do not remember which one (Epson? HP? Agfa? - for imaging devices such as scanners, webcams and the like. It allows image acquisition by applications like Photoshop, PaintShop pro and a bunch of others. The Twain drivers are native in W2K. This probly will not help much as it should work natively if your hardware and drivers are installed properly.

Thanks for your reply, Clutch. I did not think of Golive! first. Very good idea as my company may negociate a bulk package with Adobe so that users have the whole consistent toolbox. Real wysiwyg is a plus for them. No table hassle, just drag'n drop, copy and paste, position objects, with pixel precision, and upload to the staging server I believe. Is is that way? Regards

HI, SHS, I tried to get some of your 3dfx W2K drivers from the FAQ page, but it seems all the links are broken or at least have not been working for the last 3 days. Best regards
-
Got'em! Mucho thanks Gonna gib this arrogant little kid cousin who wants to play UT with me online ... uh! I'm gonna take care of his education
-
uh... I didn't got them... and the links are still broken They were the only working drivers Oh well

Try this: - delete all nv*.inf and nv*.pnf files in inf folder - look for files named oem*.inf - open each oem file with notepad and check whether they are nvidia related. If yes, then delete the file with its associated *.pnf. You may find a number of those oem files. Only delete all those nvidia related. Not the other ones as they are drivers for some other stuff you may have installed. Hope this will help

Thanks for replying I need your hacked Voodoo 2 Win2K drivers for the box I am putting together for a relative. This pair of SLIed V2 are to come back to life with some fraggin glide UT

Just wondering ... would it be possible to run it off a bootable cd while redirecting files that has to be write-accessed (cfg and saves) to a floppy or a zip? Or boot from a zip with the full game on it - if bios allows? Or boot from a floppy with main game files on a cd or a zip?

Nato have decided yesterday evening (European time) to fully apply article 5 of the Treaty for the first time in 52 years since the creation of the organisation. At least 16 nations will eventually go to war together.
