    Sony CRX100E OEM CDR/W problems

My problem with this drive is that of two things. First, during boot-up when my computer checks all IDE Devices it hangs for a bit then I get the error "ATAPI Incompatible" for the Secondary Master (where i have the burner set up). My other problem is that apparently there is no power getting to the burner. I can't open it up. I know the power sources are fine. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me with these problems? Could this have something to do with the drive being an OEM pull? [This message has been edited by The Candyman (edited 17 May 2000).]

    Sony CRX100E OEM CDR/W problems

I sent the drive back from where I purchased it for a refund. Thanks for all your help Damien. You gave me a few new troubleshooting ideas that I can use in the future !

    Sony CRX100E OEM CDR/W problems

I replaced my old IDE ribbon with a new one and reconnected it to the motherboard, cd burner, and my zip drive. Still nothing. My main concern now is there is no power getting to the drive. Does this suggest a defective burner? I tried different power cables all of which work fine on other devices, but still no power when hooked up to the burner.

    Windows 2000 Service Pack 1

I installed the SP1 beta update, but had problems with TCP/IP. I could connect to my ISP, but could not receive any data. So, I was forced to uninstall it and had no problems with TCP/IP after the uninstall.

Smart and Friendly CD Burner not burning

I have a SAF 2224 burner. Just recently my burner has just stopped burning all together. I have burned many successful cd's under win2k, so I'm pretty sure it's not a compatibility issue. When I attempt a burn, my software says that it was burned successfully. However, when I look at the cd I can see that it has not been written to at all. I've tried burning with Nero and Fireburner. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and cleaning the burner. I'm running out of ideas on what to do. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Smart and Friendly CD Burner not burning

I thought about the cdr's being the problem as well. But, the cdr's are the same one's that I had been burning successfully previously. Even so, I did try burning on a different kind of cdr (700mb) and that didn't work either .

    Wowexec.exe Not Responding?

Ok, I will try to explain my problem as best as I can. I have a clean install of win2k pro installed. Whenever I try to run a 16bit loader setup file nothing happens. When I try to shutdown, I get message saying wowexec.exe is not responding. This program will not end causing me to not shut down properly. I have successfully installed programs such as Norton Antivirus 2000 Enterprise (with some minor difficulties that were fixed), but for some reason I cannot install certain other programs. I've tried to reinstall win2k over my existing copy, but that did nothing except waste my time . I've also tried creating new user's with administrator's access, and that too did nothing (although, it did enable me to install norton antivirus 2000). Also, I have tried to just wait it out (ie. click setup.exe and wait for an hour) that did nothing. I'm running out of ideas here. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know...and if i was unclear on anything I will be more than happy to elaborate further. Thanks in advance .

    Wowexec.exe Not Responding?

My problem isn't the fact that installshield stops at 99%...installshield doesn't come up at all for certain setup files. Like I said, nothing appears to happen when I click on the setup.exe. When I try to shut down, though, I get and error saying Win16 Subsystem is unstable. What should I do to make my win16 subsystem stable?
  9. I am running win2k pro final and for some reason everytime i try to run a setup.exe for any program it doesn't run. when it runs the install shield to begin setup it will get to 99% and just sit there, causing me to end task on it, or install shield won't even start, but when i check my processes setup.exe is running. i think it may have something to do with the wowexec.exe. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know because i really would like to be able to install programs .
