I want to get this motherboard: Quote: ASUS P3V4X Pentium III 133Mhz/Ultra33 Motherboard Asus' new Pentium III motherboard features the VIA Apollo Pro chipset for 133Mhz processor support, 4X AGP, and Ultra66. With 6 PCI slots (1 ISA slot shared), and a 4X AGP video slot. Does anyone have one of these running with WIN2K and using the Ultra 66 controller? If so, can you tell me what was involded in getting it to work. I am going to purchase one of these tomorrow and like to know if I will be able to get it to work in WIN2K. ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB [This message has been edited by Unrealistic (edited 14 March 2000).]

I scored a 5100 with my system in WIN98, so I decided to load 3dmarks2000 and give it a shot while I have WIN2000 loaded. 2848 is what I scored. I went from a 5100 in WIN 98 to a 2848 in WIN2000. Of course every driver on my WIN 2000 is practically beta still. To include my ATA 66 drivers. But, I was not expecting such a low score. Also, the drivers I used are the NVIDIA 3.66 ones as they seem the most stable in WIN2000 at the moment. Every game still plays smooth and silky though and I guess that is the most important thing. Maybe the 3dmarks 2000 is not optimized for WIN2000 too? ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB

I am using the Gullimant beta drivers on my system (WIN 2000 and 3D prophet SDR) and only had one lockup in the last 3 or 4 days. Not sure if it is driver related, but they seem to be alright so far. I have not tried the 3.66 drivers though and not sure they are even WIN 2000 workable? ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB

I have heard you can swap a couple files from the older version with the newer 5.08 version and get the support. As of yet, I do not know the exact files. ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB

Standby does not work with my Highpoint UDMA drivers on the ABIT BE6-2. I get an eror message from WIN2000 stating the highpoint UDMA drivers prevented the computer from going to stand by mode. ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB

Not sure for your setup's. But the only way for me to get UDMA to work on my ABIT BE6-2 is to load the Highpoint UDMA drivers as SCSI drivers during a install. (When it ask for any additional controllers) After that WIN 2000 runs the UDMA just fine and no problems. ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB

I have the upgrade disk and there is no Boot folder. Can you explain further? Is there a way for me to make a recovery disk set like NT 4. That is what I am looking to do? ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 3D Prophet SDR 32MB

My drive is only a 13.6 GB Western Digital and I use the lastest drivers from ABit's site. Not a single problem as of yet. ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 TnT2 32MB Ultra

I have problems with this software as well. My Zip drive is only recognized if I boot with a disk in the drive and then W2k says the disk in the zip drive is corrupt and fixes it. Does this to every zip drive I try. If I boot without a disk in the drive, w2k says to insert a disk whenever I try to access the drive in explorer. Even if there is already a disk in the drive. ------------------ PIII650 @ 728 Abit BE6-2 256MB PC 100 TnT2 32MB Ultra
