There are many different PC's so creating an image for each would be a royal pain. Isn't there a way with sysprep to remove that controller that when I deploy the image, it finds a new controller driver?

I have to lock down a pc today for public use. It will have only two local accounts: Administrator and Public I wanted to use local group policies to lock down the public acct., but how do I set those policies so they don't affect the Administrator? I can give temporary admin rights to public and set the policies. But upon rebooting, both accounts are locked down, not just the public.

I figured it out another way. I am not using active directory since I am not on a domain. This is a locked down pc that will not connect to any network. Thanks for the help though

Well how do I choose what users the policy will be applied to? I have to create the policy logged in as an administrator so once I create it, it begins to apply to the admin.

I recently upgraded my server from just a simple workgroup fileserver, to a domain controller. Now I have noticed that one of my folders on one of my hardrives is giving me access denied when I am logged in as the administrator account. I've checked the security settings on the folder, and the drive. I should have total control, yet I still get access denied. Please explain how this could ever be possible??? It is quite frustrating being told I do not have control over my own hard drive. Thanks,

It is a subfolder to my girlfriends network folder. Simply called Music. She doesn't have access, nor does my Administrator accounts.

Need help setting up two domains to run on port 80 using IIS 5.0 I can't seem to figure it out.

I recently purchased a PIII 1GHz slot1 100mhz bus CPU for my Abit BE6-II board. I flashed the bios before installing the new chip to be sure it would post right. After installing the new CPU, the system will no longer post. It just turns the front lights on and sits there. I can place the old PIII 450 and everything is fine. But the 1GHz will not Post. Abit's website with the new bios says it will work. What could cause the issue? I have removed and swapped all I/O cards and RAM. Please help! Thanks, -Damon

BIOS ID: 70 has been applied to the board. So I am up to date on that.

Changed Core voltage to 1.65 with the old 450 chip in there... Put the new 1ghz chip in and started it up... nothing happened again... so apparently it is not a voltage issue.

Slot1, so no need for slotket.... As for CMOS has been reset, but how could I adjust core voltage if that is the issue?

I am about to purchase the new Abit IT7 board and run a P4 1.8a processor. I am so used to P3's that I haven't kept up with the best cooling options for the P4. I am not planning on overclocking. Looking for stability in my computer... What are the best options for heatsink/fans for the Pentium 4 that will work well with the IT7 board? Thanks,

I am wanting to build a Pentium 4 system, but need people's opinions for I am used to Pentium 3 systems. Any feedback would be appreciated! -Damon

I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop. I had to reinstall Windows XP on it and when I went to adjust the refresh rate it tells me I have multiple monitors. And none of those are able to be set at higher than 60hertz. My eyes are strained to death with that setting. What could cause the monitors not to be able to go higher. I checked on Dell's website and it states it can go up to 75. What's the deal? Is my monitor bad?

I tried to use the drivers for the monitor off Dell's website. But I have no idea which one of the "Default Monitors" my monitor is on the laptop. So I went ahead and put it on all of them and restarted. After I am back up I still can only set it at 60hertz. This was working fine before I reformatted so I don't see what I could of done wrong. The Video card is the GeForce2 Go.

Need some help. I have a Win2k Server running on a cable connection that is using Port 80 for Webserver, and Port 21 for FTP server. I need a firewall that will work well in a server environment that doesn't cause me to pull my hair out trying to configure it. I am currently trying Tiny Personal Firewall, but I can't get my FTP Server connections to function. Please need some advise and help. Thanks, -Damon

Need some help setting up permissions to access FTP servers running on my Win2k box. I have unchecked anonymous login, but I want some servers to be only accessed by Administrator, and another FTP server to be accessed by my users. How can I set this up with IIS 5.0?

Getting the following error all the time in my 2k server in event viewer. What does it mean and do I have a serious problem with DNS? Registration of the DNS record 'gc._msdcs.dreddnet.com. 600 IN A 192.168.1.2' failed with the following error: DNS server unable to interpret format. Any help would be appreciated!

The domain is dreddnet.com So there is not underscore in the name.

Not sure what I did different this time around, but I seemed to have it working according to your method of host headers. Both domains are coming up under my wan ip address without zoneedit's web forward. Thanks guys, you are great!

I am stuck on a DHCP so I use dynamic dns to update my ip address for my domains to zoneedit.com which is my nameserver for the domains. I also ran a ping on the two domains, and have no clue what the ip address is for the damonandamber.com domain. Must have something to do with the webforward. But both sites come up in IE.

I had two domains, dreddnet.com and damonandamber.com I just couldn't figure out the subdomain structure. I am on Time Warner RR connection if that's important too. Thanks,

I got it to work but not using host headers as I thought I could. Instead, I went to Zoneedit and edited my nameserver to do a webforward to another name then on my end of the server, I setup the host headers with that false name that was on port 8080. So now when they type my domain they are actually going to port 8080 and don't know it because of the web forward. It works, but I am still wondering why if I have only one WAN IP, why can't I host multiple sites on port 80. Thanks for the help!
