Off Topic? How to stop those annoying pop-under ad. windows?
yakkob replied to tylau's topic in Software
Hey Alec, Yeah, when I said I checked the settings in W2k, I meant the settings in naviscope. I have since found out what the prob is, it is NAV Firewall. Cheers -
Did you get the 21.83's from nvidias site? If not, then I suggest you do, as there have been some different versions from other sites.

I checked out the settings (in W2k) and found nothing that relates to graphics. I'll have another mess in XP. Cheers -

Ai @ Naviscope. A superb proggie. Actually Alec, any chance you can make it 'better' compatible with I.E 6.0? I have stayed with IE 5.5 because graphics would not dl with NAvi and IE 6.0. Just wondering -
I have had no probs with the gtxp in my system with W2k or XP. The only thing I can suggest is to do a reinstall of the OS and a clean install of drivers, as some peeps have had this prob with the gtxp. I know its a bind (and you might have done that already).

This may be a shot in the dark, but have you checked that your HD's are set to UDMA and not PIO on your primary and secondary IDE controller? -
Nice work on the icons Gambler. Methinks I will have to put them on my desktop. Once again. Well Done:D

Cyber, which drivers are you using? I am using the 3.01's but I have noticed that hercules have the 3.02's up on thier ftp server now. I do not know what the difference is between these 2 versions.
-
I will see if I can watch one of my films (when I get time). I will let you know the outcome. ----- But as far as everything else, the gtxp has been working really well with the new drivers in W2k and Wxp.

I agree Brian, but this guy is talking about upgrading some quite old hardware. He hasn't posted his specs, for all we know he could have a P166. Just insuring him of the facts, thats all.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you will find that USB modems are classed as software modems, much like internal PCI modems. Therefore, making them NOT very great at all! If you get a new modem, I would suggest an external serial port connection modem like 3com or diamond.

Okies.. The new drivers are for all OS's 9x/me/2000/xp. The reason I posted about the eax echo in W2k, is that it is relevant because Tribes 2 does NOT work in XP. Point taken tho
-
I still terrible echoing with EAX in Tribes 2 in W2k. That new hardware mp3 playback is really cool.
-
Turok 2 was unplayable on the N64 too, so don't worry hehe

Played HL with A3D... Wicked No bugs as yet, I will keep you posted

Okie Dokie, Installed the new 3.01's and now get sound ...woohoo Also, managed to get 4 speakers when playing mp3's, and thats.....all I managed to try at the mo. We have an emergency situation at home at the mo, and I cannot find the time to get online etc. I will keep you updated as best I can. Hopefully (can't be sure) I will try a game this weekend. Alll in all I am happy with the drivers, I haven't installed them in W2k yet tho.

Charming. Heh...There is only 4hrs between your posts. Do you think someone is keeping vigil at all times on this board, do you think peeps get paid to answer you? Do we have an obligation? NO! The thing is m8, prolly no-one saw your message, and you fixed it yourself too quick. Or maybe you just did a search and found the answer > VIrtual Memory I mean, you _did_ search before you posted didn't you? I thought not! Now go get some manners, or a new forum, whichever is easiest for you, because its you yourself that counts yeah?

It would help if you included the specs of your machine. Until you do so, I/we are taking random stabs at the answer. If you have the logitech mouse drivers installed. No Mouse or Keyboard After Installing Logitech MouseWare Version 8.x -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe. SYMPTOMS When you start Windows 2000, the mouse and keyboard may not respond. Your only options are to reset the computer or turn it off. CAUSE This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 drivers for Logitech MouseWare have been installed. Installing MouseWare loads the following services and drivers: Added services: Lkbdfktr.sys, which is the Logitech Keyboard Class Filter driver. Lmoufltr.sys, which is the Mouse Class Filter driver. Lsermous.sys, which is the Logitech Serial Mouse driver. All three of these drivers are set to a Start value of System. The L8042prt.sys driver is copied to the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers folder. The registry entry for the mouse and keyboard is changed to: HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt:Imagepath=System32\Drivers\L8042prt.sys RESOLUTION WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD). The fastest way to get mouse and keyboard functionality back is to use Recovery Console to replace the file, and then use Registry Editor to change the reference to the correct file: Start the computer to Recovery Console. Change to the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers folder. Type the following lines, pressing ENTER after each line: ren l8042prt.sys l8042prt.lgt copy i8042prt.sys l8042prt.sys disable lkbdfltr disable lmoufltr disable lsermous Type exit to quit Recovery Console, and then reboot the computer. After the computer reboots, start Registry Editor. Change the registry entry for the mouse and keyboard to: HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ i8042prt:Imagepath=System32\Drivers\i8042prt.sys Note that the entry is using a lowercase "L" in the name. L8042.sys should be changed to i8042prt.sys.
