he has to beat it down into place, or because it carries big beats It is a thick cable to be sure, and can be quite unwieldy. Thank goodness it does the job I have to say I am very pleased with the GTXP, after years of shite sound with my sblive's in my bp6. Hearing a game and music with the herc installed into my dual system was definately a breath of fresh air, and shocked me tbh. It shocked me because I didn't realise just how bad my sound was. On a side note, has anyone tried out the new 'Creative Extigy' yet? Looks pretty cool, even tho they have copied the GTXP, but I was wondering if they have sorted out their sound troubles yet with SMP systems?

Seem ok.. No problems (Didn't have any before tho )

Looks cool m8, glad you got it sorted Desktopx can take a bit of getting used to, but if you are willing to try and do things different it can be quite rewarding and is a helluva lot easier on the eye than the normal windows desktop. 'Dungeon Master' was one gr8 game on the Atari ST, as was 'Super Sprint' (definatley the best coin-op conversion). And YES, the joystick ports were a pain in the ***! lol BUggy Boy was also a good conversion if my memory serves me right. In fact... Damn it Phillip, set up an ATARI - ST forum now hehe 8)

Quote: Oops, sorry bro. lol. yakkob, I tried desktop X with that exact theme you have. Pretty damn cool really. But one annoying as hell problem...what do you do about your taskbar? Like ICQ or Trillian? How can you answer your msgs? Also really like your custom folders, those rawk bawls. I think I know what you mean about the 'bottom' taskbar.. You want to assign the cons with an application like trillian, etc. Right click one of the icons on the taskbar ans 'select target' then browse to the app.exe you want to run. If you are on about the usual 'windows' taskbar, I always have that at the top of the screen (from days of my Atari-ST - hehe), I just had it on 'autohide'. Does this help? Let me know m8

done the 'Complete' install? If not, the swapping might be due to cdrom access.

Just download the 3.02 drivers off http://us.hercules.com and run them. GTXP works fine here in W2k. You have service packed W2k also haven't you - (SP2)?

a price for the GEF4 PCI.. It was linked from here b4, altho I can't see it there now. I'll do some more hunting. -
yet Still working my way through on the 'hard' level. The ending may not be gr8 (So m4carbine says), but getting to the 'end' is bloody thrilling. Its got a fair few hours of gameplay I am just starting the snow level after protecting the tank at the bridge. Some bloody excellent and hard moments up to yet

Only thing I would suggest is that you go back to the 23.11 official Nvidia Dets. Absolutely brilliant game btw.

I bought this for £699, which I think you will agree is bloody good for the price. Its the first time I have bought a ready-made system, and I have to say (for gaming) its pretty damn fast. I have had 2 of these buggers fail on me

Quote: i would upgrade to a vodoo 3 or 5 and max payne should work good lol Sorry, but no-one in their right mind is gonna 'upgrade' to a now defunct and unsupported family of graphics cards i.e. Voodoo 3 or 5. Spend as little as £40 and get a gef2mx400 if money is tight. If money isn't tight, then get a GTS/Pro version.

Quote: I did a search through the forums before posting, I must have just missed that one, sorry for the double post then No worries. I just recalled replying to it b4 that's all. As for it happening out of the blue? I don't know Hopefully, someone will come up with a solution one day

Exit and LogOff is only featured in the outlook 97's I seem to recall. Avalance, the bug you are experiencing has been talked about on these forums b4 here . There aint much you can do about it
