  1. My m8 installed SP3 rc version and had to reimage his machine because photoshop kept reading his fonts 4x when he started the app after, which is a bit of a chore as he has about 1300 fonts on there.

    60Hz refresh rate !

Soz, my bad, I didn't read your post properly.. I don't think this will work with your vidcard (You could try tho;)) Or use the nvidia refresh rate app. > http://www.guru3d.com/files/ Guru3D.com Downloads >> Generic Tools >> Windows 2000/XP NVidia Refresh Rate Fix Name: Windows 2000/XP NVidia Refresh Rate Fix Description: NVidia Refresh Rate Fix is a program which can be used to change the default 60Hz refresh rate under Windows XP and Windows 2000 with NVidia display adapters. You only need to run this program once after you have installed (or reinstalled) your display adapter drivers. No other procedures are necessary. 7. Quote: FULL model of NTFSDos does read & write You mean I can access my files etc? The writeup of ntfsdos seems to indicate metadata etc, which means nothing mean to me. If my machine goes down I just want to be able to format the C: reapply my image (if ghost2002 will create a bootable floppy that works with xp ntfs) and then still have access to my files on the D & E drives. Or, if the hd is fooked, then use ntfsdos to rescue documents, scripts etc from an ntfs partition and put them to floppy etc. It seems to me, that unless you have a good backup system to dts tapes etc then ntfs is gonna do you more harm than good if it does go down. NTFS just seems somewhat restricting to me.
  8. upgrade my HD's to ntfs. But, I just purchased a new pc (ready built) > P4 1.6 ghz 512 MB PC133 SDRam Gef 3 Ti200 w Vid in & TV Out Onboard 6.1 sound 16x DVD 16x10x40 Sony CDRW (Burnproof) Seagate 80GB ata100 7200 rpm HD (Formatted as NTFS) FD Keyboard IntelliMouse WXP Home edition (and other software) £699.99 Anyways, I was gonna ghost it, but ghost 2001 doesn't support WXP NTFS I know botting up with a DOS/W98 startup disk, and looking at Partitions doesn't work if they are formatted with NTFS, so HOW? is ntfs better?? How can I get at my files if Windows dies? Forgive my lack of knowledge in this area, but I think I need a bit of guidance. Cheers
  9. I installed the 'FINAL' Sp3 last night, and I was right, it is a release-candidate version. I put my old image back on as I fancied a clearout of my installs (Good old service). Oh yeah, the reason I did this; was because for some reason IE wasn't keeping my cookies etc, and I couldn't even login to my hotmail account (IT kept throwing me back to the login screen). Anyways, everything is fine now, and I shall wait for the 'FINAL' SP3.
  10. Quote: Why do you say that, are they like an unreliable site? Nope, I am not they are saying thay are an unreliable site as I don't honestly know. But when it comes down to installing service packs etc, I usually wait for the 'official' one off the m$ site. I could install it if wanted as I have a good ghost image to go back to. But, I am not in any hurry to do that at the mo. It says 'FINAL' but can you trust that? This has nothing to do with the site its hosted on, and nothing bad is meant to be aimed at the site. Just use at your discretion

Quote: As far as the CS article link someone posted, the 2 individials pictured are not even worthy of a computer-gamer qualificative: they're plain SAD. What article? Quote: How does it feel when you're the last man standing from the CT team against 3 or 4 enemies, WITHOUT ammo packs or health packs, and knowing that you need only one WIN in order to win the clanwar? Glad I installed that ogahack so I can cheat me way through with my always headshotting amazing Desert Eagle? pffffffffft
  14. Just replace the motherboard battery. It sounds as if your old one is dying. Don't worry, they are very cheap

    SCSI Problems in XP

You need the winaspi32.dll from NERO's site, not Adaptec's. I would reinstall Nero, and place the said dll in the NERO folder. P.S. Thanks Alec

Have you downloaded the latest winaspi32.dll from Ahead's site, and put it in your NERO folder?

    Best Win2000 Compatible Multiplayer games

What an utter abortion of a game. But.. Before you flame me! I actually used to like this game, but gave up on it because of all the cheaters. They totally ruined a perfectly good game. Now I only play CS for 2 weeks after a new patch comes out. After that I uninstall it, because the hackers have got a way around the patch to start cheating again. If you wanna see summat scray, check out a movie thats going round featuring the OGA hack in action. Pathetic!

    My files have disappeared

Hmm.. If you know the exact filesize and the names of each of the files, you can renmae the FILE0001.chk etc to the relevant filename. Because you BSOD'd, Windows would have done a Scandisk on the way up, and corrections would have been made to your filesystem. Look in your root directory (C:\) and look for the file0001.chk etc, and do your best. Were all the files the same? i.e mp3's, doc's, etc? If they were just rename the *.chk's to *.mp3's etc You can then rename them to what you know after. Other than this solution, I don't know.

    Been to Best Buy Lately?

Heh, And, don't you forget about the excellent M.O.T. (Service) type thing they do @ PCWorld either! Where you pay £40 and they 'supposedly' clean it of any viruses etc. Another word for this 'vacuuming'!
