At least your system stays up. My system goes to a blue screen memory dump because NV4_disp caused some kind of fatal error.

Definitely worth installing in my opinion. I've been running it for a month with no problems and no sticky keys!

Fixed the problem concerning NFS 5 + Win2000 + HangUp !!!
Jester replied to TrueType's topic in Games
Has anyone gotten NFS5 working in Glide on a Voodoo2? I tried changing the 3dsetup.ini settings and it still only detects my TNT. The TNT works fine but is slow. Something else that's weird is the installation program doesn't install a 3dsetup directory. I have to make the directory myself and copy the files over manually. Very strange... This is the demo btw. -
Worked for me! You da man Veddar!

Get yourself a real DVD drive, processor, and motherboard. With a Pioneer 104S and my Celeron 450 I have 35% CPU usage using PowerDVD. Celeron 450 Abit BF6 (440BX) 192MB RAM Pioneer 104S ASUS AGP TNT1 (doesn't have any hardware DVD) Win2k Prof [This message has been edited by Jester (edited 23 May 2000).]

Using the Aureal Beta you will be given a taskbar control panel. Open it up and select "4 Speakers" and it should work fine.
-
Which drivers are you using? I find that the ones on 3dfx's site are crap. I use some hacked NT 4.0 drivers and they work fine. Just no D3D support. If you need them I can e-mail you a link to them.

Uhhh...the MX400 uses an ESS chipset so I would check with them and see if they have any drivers. From my experience ESS is horrible about getting out good drivers.

Get a BX motherboard

My friend has a SB-Live Value running Win2k prof. He just got some brand spankin' new Klipsch Promedia v.400s and can only get 2 speaker support. Are there any drivers out for the Live that give it 4 speaker support? I checked Creative's website and nothing is listed under 2000 drivers or beta drivers. Please help because 2 speakers with the Klipschs really sucks! [This message has been edited by Jester (edited 15 May 2000).]

I've got no lockups at all with my system. I've run it for two weeks without rebooting using the 5.14s. I haven't rebooted since installing the 5.16s 2 days ago. Celeron 450 Abit BF6 192MB RAM Guillemot TNT2 Ultra

No Windows 2000 support for the ATi Rage Fury MAXX
Jester replied to brocklanders's topic in Hardware
I think 2000 has issues with multi-chip video cards. My SLI won't work in SLI mode with real Windows 2000 drivers (D3D support). If I use hacked NT drivers (no D3D) they work fine though. Probably some issue with the way 2000 does D3D or something. If thats so 3dfx is gonna be up a creek with their 2 & 4 chip Voodoo5s. -
Which of these mobos is better for Windows 2000? Please advi

Uhhh...Since a name like Lucky Star sounds so "trustworthy", I would use the Abit. It's a great board. -
It should work. Works fine for my TNT2 Ultra and I know it should work for all NVidia cards (I've seen it working with Geforces, TNT2s, & TNTs). I'm using the 5.16 beta drivers.
-
The 5.16s work great for my TNT2 Ultra. CS seems a lot smoother than with the 5.14s. That's all I play so I can't comment on any other games.
-
Have you tried using the hacked NT 4.0 drivers? They don't have any D3D support, but they work great for Half-Life. My SLI runs like a champ. Celeron 450 Abit BF6 192MB RAM 2 12MB Creative Labs Voodoo2s If you can't find the hacked drivers (I think 3dfx took them down) I can send them to you.
-
Nope mine runs fine. TNT running 3.78s in OpenGL (D3D sucks in HL).
-
RS works great for me in 2000. At firt I would get some EAX error, but when I installed EAX Unified (wasn't installed automatically for some reason) found in the redist folder. I've got a TNT using the 3.78s and an Abit BF6 (440bx).

Originally posted by Jester: I've got WarFTP 1.70 running under Windows 2000, and for some reason the download speed off my server is being limited to 100kb/sec. I'm on a network with people copying files off it and they should be getting way higher than this since they can upload at speeds around 1000kb/sec. And what's even weirder is this only happens to people who are also running Windows 2000. People in 98 can download at full speed. Another of my friends also has War running under 98 and he doesn't have this problem leading me to believe that it's a problem with 2000. Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? I know it's not a setting in the FTP server because I have Max CPS set to none. I've also installed all the speed tweaks from www.speedguide.net but they didn't make any difference. Everything was working just fine, until I tried installing the new version of Executive Software's Diskkeeper. During the install it said that it couldn't start some service and that the install will be aborted. So I aborted and now whenever I try entering the Windows defrag program I get the following error: Snap-in failed to initialize. Name: Disk Defragmenter CLSID: {43668E21-2636-11D1-A1CE-0080C88593A5} Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? Or know of any other defrag programs for 2000? I really need a defrag!

Ok, I've now tried Mechwarrior 3 and Rogue Spear and both had serious problems with stickiness. I went back out and killed all background apps which got rid of most the stickiness, but there was still a slight stickiness.

You'll first need to make a FAT32 partition, then boot off a DOS bootdisk, and install it from there.

I went throught the process of getting NFS4 installed and everything worked just great, but when I go into 3D setup I can only select the Software Renderer. WTF? I've got an SLI and TNT which work just great for every other game I've thrown at them under 2k. UT, Q3, HL, RS, SS2, Driver.
