When my computer goes into standby mode, or comes out of standby mode, my event viewer has these event id's relating to the CD ROM: Event Type: Error Event Source: Cdrom Event Category: None Event ID: 11 Date: 1/27/2008 Time: 10:31:12 AM User: N/A Computer: KEITH Description: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom1. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Any ideas? I get 6 errors for each of the 2 cd rom drives I have. The drives seem to work fine, otherwise.

The information they are displaying is not correct. My 12v reads -5.3v, the temperatures do not match the BIOS...things like that Originally posted by Relic: Quote: Originally posted by kgeissler: Quote: I have an ECS KN1 motherboard and am looking for some software to monitor the CPU temperature and motherboard voltages. The nTune software that came with the board, doesnt give me all the info I need. I have tried Motherboard Monitor and Speedfan, and neither give accurate information. Anyone have any suggestions? What makes you say they don't give accurate information?

I am going to be upgrading my Athlon 2800+ and saw that both the Opteron 148 and Athlon 64 3700+ were about the same price. Any idea what the difference between the processors is? I am going to be using it in conjuction with a Geforce 7800GT to play games with. I won't be overclocking at all. Any opinions on these processors? Help me decide which one to get... TIA

Isn't packet bursting a Netware thing?

Ok...here is the deal. I have 2 computers. Computer 1 is wired to my Belkin 802.11b wireless router. Computer 2 is wireless. When Computer 2 gets online and starts accessing the web, I will notice lag spikes from Computer 1 to the Belkin router. I set Computer 1 to ping the router with the -t switch. The ping from Computer 1 to the router would be 1ms, until computer 2 accesses a website, then I would get spikes of 100ms - 500ms, until the page is loaded. That is no big deal normally, but during online gaming, that gets annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

I am building a budget system for my daughter so I bought a MB with integrated S3 graphics. I also have an old Geforce2 GTS with 32MB, AGP here. Which one would give better performance?

Ok, everytime I reboot my machine, my video settings get reset to 640x480x256. I then can change it to 1280x1024. But, the next time I reboot, back to the defaults. I have an ATI Radeon 9700, lastest drivers. Any ideas?

This may be a stupid question, but if a motherboard has SATA RAID, can I hook up 2 IDE drives and make a RAID Array? Or do I have to get SATA hard drives? If so, can you buy converters or something? Seems like most of the motherboards have SATA Raid, but I am not sure were to get the drives.

Well...after all was said and done I went and ordered a Radeon 9700 (not the pro). I will let you know how it turns out... :x

I want to upgrade my old Geforce2 GTS, but not sure if I should get a Geforce 4ti 4600 or a Radeon 9700 Pro. Any ideas? Also, I only have a Athlon XP 1600+, should I upgrade the processor instead? What do you all think?

The firewall is off, so it shouldn't be blocking any ports.

Ok, I am trying to use VNC with my web browser. If I try to connect to my box internally using my 192.168.0.1 IP address and the correct port, I can pull up VNC in my web browser, connect and everything works great. If I try to use the IP address from my ISP, it will connect, but after I type in my password, it says "socket read failed". Anyone have any ideas why I can connect internaly, but not externally? I turned off my firewall and it still cant connect. TIA

After installing SP3, the web server portion of IIS now hangs when I boot. I get an Event ID 7022. Anyone else having this problem?
