Check the FAQ's on this website. It mentions how to get around it there.

I am looking for a personal firewall for my computer. I have cable modem and am using ICS for my other computer. I have tried Zone Alarm, but it didn't allow me to configure the ports. I use a program called RemotelyAnywhere to do remote control on my machine. But when I try to access it, it gets blocked. Any ideas? TIA

When I had my Promise Ultra 66 controller installed, I didn't have to disable the onboard IDE. I could use them both.

Try booting with the boot disks and running a repair of the installation. That should put back the ntldr.

Are the partions on the same drive or 2 partions on 2 seperate drives?

How did the install of your Abit KA7 go? I am getting one of those plus a Athlon 750. Any trouble installing Win2000?

I have a Phoneline network setup in my house to share my cable modem. But everytime my wife turns off her computer there is no link for the phone line adapter. I then get the message in my taskbar, "Network Cable Unplugged" and the computer with the red X in it. I don't mind the icon, but how do I get rid of the pop-up message. Gets kinda annoying. TIA, Keith

I am going to be upgrading the motherboard and CPU on my computer. Right now I am running Win2000. Do you think it would be OK to just swap the motherboard and cpu and boot up? Or do you think there will be problems with the HAL? Any ideas? TIA

I dont buy it. I have a 400 and have 4 partions on 1 HD. I never heard anything like that before.
-
Her computer is a laptop. Other than that the Phoneline network works great. I know that running a hub and cat5 would be quicker, but I really don't feel like running wire through the house.

I spoke with Lexmark today about Win2k drivers for the 5700 and was told they aren't going to make any drivers for this printer because they could not get them to work. What a bunch of crap. Time to by an HP or Epson.
-
Just FYI, Lexmark has release Win2000 drivers for the 5700. They are on their website.

They way Homefree works is this. The Homefree card will only display a link light when it finds another Homefree card on the network. So, when my wifes computer is turned off, my Homefree card doesn't find any other Homefree cards on the network and turns off the link light. Which in turn, Windows 2000, thinks the network cable is unplugged, because there is no link light.
-
Yea, I know. The wife really didn't want CAT 5 cable running all around the house. The Diamond Homefree works really well, just wish I could get rid of the icon when her computer is off.

The Adaptec 2920, or current equivalant is usually about 100 bucks.

The MAXIMUM size for a NT 4.0 boot partion is 4GB. And NT 4.0 doesn't see FAT32 partitions. So you might need to make 2 partitions. One of 4GB and one of 16GB.
-
Are you running any SCSI cards or Promise IDE cards? Some need drivers at setup that NT 4.0 doesnt have. If so, when you are running the DOS part of setup, I think you hit F6 to insert a driver disk.
-
I called Lexmark concerning my 5700 and they told me they were not going to make a driver for it. This was because they could not get a driver to work correctly.

Put your swap file on a seperate physical hard drive. Preferably your fastest. -
Try going into the driver settings in Device Manager and change the Memory I/O range. That might help.

I am waiting for them also. I need them for my Quickcam VC.
