Just loaded XP. In Win2k I used to have buttons next to my start button to launch IE, Outlook express and etc. How can I get that in XP? TIA

Are the laptops that need to be wiped NTFS? If not, you could use LANMAN to log onto the network. Create a DOS batch file to copy files to the network share, reghost, then copy back.

Do you have the cable from the CD-ROM drive to the sound card connected?

I use ZoneAlarm Pro and it works great. I have a cable connection with a webserver, FTP server and occasional game server.

How about booting to the recovery mode, erasing the swap file and let windows create a new one?

Use file permissions on your NTFS drives. The shares that only need to be accessed by the Admin, set the permissions on the file to Admin only.

I have a Canon S600 and really like it. It is fast, great photo quality output, and seperate ink cartridges for the different colors.

Go to Administrative Tools --> Computer Management. Click on Disk Management, then right click on the drive you want to change the drive letter off, and select change drive letter.

This might be a long shot, but have you tried different USB ports?

Is this a USB or Serial port sidewinder?

Did you logon as an account that has administrator rights, or did you logon as Administrator?

Do you have UDMA turned on in 2000? It is turned off by default.

What are you using to benchmark your system? Did you use SiSoft Sandra?

Maybe a long shot, but you could try reinstalling SP2.
