Have you tried to reinstall Win2k?
-
Do you have all the latest service packs and patches?
-
1) Yes, you are running IIS 2) Make sure you have SP2. Also, there was a post, in I believe the networking forum, about securing IIS. Read that post 3) To access the machine from the net. You ICS computer would have to forward all requests to your Adv Server Machine. And if I remember right. Port forwarding on ICS is a pain. You might want to put your FTP server on the same machine as ICS. You would then use the IP address your ISP gave you. 4) I would set it up to allow password. To many people sniffing ports an all. 5) Yes, theoretically, they could see your password. But in reality, since it is only your home machine, I wouldn't worry about it. The chances of someone wanting to see your password, then doing it, are very small.

Dr. Watson logs are located in c:\documents and settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson. Is that what you are talking about?

In the BIOS, make sure that for both 5 1/4 floppy and 3 1/2 floppy you have "Not Installed" Wherever your drive is installed on the IDE chain, make sure in the BIOS it is set to "Auto". So if it is set as the Secondary Slave, make sure it says "Auto" in the BIOS for the Secondary Slave.

You might have to image the hard drive to a second hard drive on the same system. Then copy the image file to the tape.
-
When you uninstall, you might want to go through the registry and makes sure everything got removed. Also, have you gone to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and made sure you have all the updates for your computer. I know there were a few compatablity updates released.

Make sure it is set to the Master on your Secondary IDE controller. I think if you make it the slave, it will come up as B:

Help, can't access my other system on a network.

Are you using network neighborhood to browser, or are you typing in \\computername\share? Also, make sure your IP info is correct. -
There are some floating around. All you will be able to do is see the contents of the drive. You won't be able to copy, delete or anything. Just see the files. BTW, is this NT4, or Win2k?

You need a plain DOS boot disk? Or do you need a DOS boot disk that can see NTFS drives?

The ones I like are: www.newegg.com www.bunta.com www.tcwo.com

Check out www.no-ip.com. It allows you to setup up a host name and have it redirect to your ip address. It also has a program that checks your ip address and automatically updates your host name. For example, I registered ***.no-ip.org. So when I FTP into my box, I can now use ***.no-ip.org instead of my IP address. Plus if my IP changes, it will update my host name automatically.

I just got the Labtec Pulse 424's. It is only a 2.1 setup and it sounds great. They only cost about $45.

Try resizing the IE windows and see if that helps. -
With Windows 98, you could usually get away with swapping motherboards and still be able to boot, and reinstall all the new hardware. Windows 2000 is a lot more picky. I would just reinstall Win2k.
