Have you updated the IDE Controller drivers lately? Does your motherboard use the VIA 4-in-1 drivers?
-
You have to install it of the Win2k CD. The only thing is, you have to do it in Windows. Best thing to do is install it right after you install windows.

I am running IE6 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 and haven't had any problems. Are the PDF's you are trying to read, created with a really old version of Adobe Acrobat?
-
I just click favorites, then right click on Links and hit delete. Gets rid of it for me.

I was getting that same error message everytime I ran a setup.exe, especially ones that were InstallShield. Anyway, I tried everything to get rid of the Access Violation error and nothing worked. I wound up reinstalling Win2k and now everything runs fine. I know reinstalling is a pain, but have you thought of doing that? Also, you can get updated SB Live drivers here: http://shs-sound.paraknowya.com/ go down about 1/3 of the page and you will see the SBLive! 5.12.01.3300c WDM drivers. Try them.

Post the log. It is located in Local Files and Settings/All Users/Documents/Dr. Watson.

Have you tried reinstalling IE6 and OE6?

What version of Outlook Express are you running? I can send you the executable and see if that fixes your problem. Maybe yours has become corrupt.

I am going to be getting a RAID motherboard and was wondering if I could do this: Right now I have a 13GB WD 5400RPM drive. Can I buy 1 more 13GB drive that is 7200RPM and run them together? Or do the drives have to be exactly the same? If not, would I be better saving the money and just buying one more 5400RPM 13GB drive, or is 7200 the way to go?
-
Ok... For a motherboard I was looking at the Abit KT7A-RAID, or the EPOX 8KTA3+. Does anyone have any experience with the Epox? I have had Abit's and been happy with them. Not sure if I should look at the Epox. Also, if anyone else has any other motherboard suggestions it would be appreciated. Only thing is, it has to support SDRAM. I have a lot of SDRAM and don't want to have to buy DDR right now. TIA

How much more performance will I get out of 2 7200RPM drives vs 2 5400RPM drives?

NTFS is faster than FAT32.

Does anyone have a problem with the new Detonator drivers? When I run DXDIAG and go to display. Then try to run the DirectX Acceleration test, it will fail on me. If I load the 12.81 drivers it works fine. I have a Geforce2 GTS with 32MB. Anyone else have this problem?

Ok, whenever I try to run an installation program by Installshield. It will crash and say "SETUP.EXE has generated errors and is being closed by windows..." Dr. Watson's log says this: Application exception occurred: App: (pid=344) When: 9/24/2001 @ 19:39:42.245 Exception number: c0000005 (access violation) *----> System Information <----* Computer Name: KEITH User Name: Keith Geissler Number of Processors: 1 Processor Type: x86 Family 6 Model 2 Stepping 1 Windows 2000 Version: 5.0 Current Build: 2195 Service Pack: 2 Current Type: Uniprocessor Free Registered Organization: Registered Owner: Keith Geissler *----> Task List <----* 0 Idle.exe 8 System.exe 152 SMSS.exe 180 CSRSS.exe 200 WINLOGON.exe 228 SERVICES.exe 240 LSASS.exe 412 svchost.exe 444 spoolsv.exe 492 svchost.exe 564 NPSSVC.exe 640 nvsvc32.exe 664 regsvc.exe 692 mstask.exe 724 NOPDB.exe 756 stisvc.exe 784 WinMgmt.exe 804 LOCATOR.exe 324 explorer.exe 1108 devldr32.exe 1064 PopUpKiller.exe 268 YPager.exe 980 HotSync.exe 1016 msiexec.exe 344 Setup.exe 468 DRWTSN32.exe 0 _Total.exe (00400000 - 00416000) (77F80000 - 77FFB000) (77820000 - 77827000) (77E80000 - 77F35000) (759B0000 - 759B6000) (77E10000 - 77E74000) (77F40000 - 77F7C000) (20000000 - 20025000) (10000000 - 10019000) (00C40000 - 00C4D000) State Dump for Thread Id 0x1e0 eax=00005a00 ebx=7ffdf000 ecx=00000000 edx=0000fc0c esi=00130ba3 edi=0012ff0c eip=00406b41 esp=0012fbf4 ebp=0012ff10 iopl=0 nv up ei pl zr na po nc cs=001b ss=0023 ds=0023 es=0023 fs=0038 gs=0000 efl=00000246 function: <nosymbols> 00406b26 6656 push si 00406b28 6657 push di 00406b2a 6650 push ax 00406b2c 6653 push bx 00406b2e 6651 push cx 00406b30 6652 push dx 00406b32 668d95fcfcffff lea dx,[ebp+0xfffffcfc] ss:0012fc0c=3a43 00406b39 66b90000 mov cx,0x0 00406b3d b000 mov al,0x0 00406b3f b45a mov ah,0x5a FAULT ->00406b41 cd21 int 21 00406b43 7245 jb 0040d18a 00406b45 668bd8 mov bx,ax 00406b48 32c0 xor al,al 00406b4a 6633c9 xor cx,cx 00406b4d 6633d2 xor dx,dx 00406b50 6633f6 xor si,si 00406b53 66bf0100 mov di,0x1 00406b57 b45c mov ah,0x5c 00406b59 cd21 int 21 00406b5b 7304 jnb 0040a761 00406b5d 3c01 cmp al,0x1 *----> Stack Back Trace <----* FramePtr ReturnAd Param#1 Param#2 Param#3 Param#4 Function Name 0012FF10 004045AE 0012FFC0 7FFDF000 0040C148 00000200 !<nosymbols> 0012FF34 00407D2F 00400000 00000000 00130BA3 00000001 !<nosymbols> 0012FFC0 77E97D08 00000008 02EADB3C 7FFDF000 C0000005 !<nosymbols> 0012FFF0 00000000 00407BF0 00000000 000000C8 00000100 kernel32!CreateProcessW *----> Raw Stack Dump <----* 0012fbf4 00 00 08 00 00 f0 08 00 - 0c ff a3 0b 08 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc04 a3 0b 13 00 00 f0 fd 7f - 43 3a 5c 57 49 4e 4e 54 ........C:\WINNT 0012fc14 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc24 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc34 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc44 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc54 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc64 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc74 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc84 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fc94 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fca4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fcb4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fcc4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fcd4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fce4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fcf4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fd04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fd14 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0012fd24 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ I finally got it to work. Although I did the hard way. I wound up reinstalling Win2k. My computer need the reinstall anyway.
-
Just a thought, but couldn't you dual boot DOS and Win2k?
-
Yes, I tried installing in safe mode, that didn't work. Tried a different logon, that didn't work. The thing is this has happened with other setup programs. I can't install MusicCity Morpheus or my printer drivers (i had to do it manually)
-
I downloaded it, but am having problems installing it. The setup program keeps crashing. I think it is my box though. I have had other setup programs that would not run. I ran the setup program on my Win2k Server and it ran fine. If you download it, make sure to use ftp.ea.com. You get a faster download.

I was looking through my logs yesterday and found some entries of an IP trying to GET /winnt/cmd.exe and such. It gave them a 404 error. I think that is because we have installed all our patches.

I ran the IIS security tool from microsoft and now it has locked down my ports. I need some of these ports open to pass info to an AS/400. It also blocked the ports, so now I can't even PCAnywhere into the machine. I can't figure out how to unistall it or restore my old security settings. Any info would be greatly appreciated
-
I was able to figure it out. It put some IPSec security restriction on my TCP/IP. Once I turned IPSec off, everything worked fine.

Does anyone know of a piece of software that can monitor my website? I need it to do the following: 1) Load the site at given intervals and make sure its up. 2) Notify me in email. It also has to have room for multiple email addresses. 3) It has to be able to run a batch file if the site is down. Oh, and it has to be less than $100 I have looked at IPCheck, it used to much CPU time. A1Monitor, only allows 2 email address. Any other ideas? Thanks
