You may also want to check how the partition was setup, like if the other non-boot hard drives are partitioned as primary drives then this may be what is happening. Any drive other than the boot drive is easier to manage if its setup with extended and logical partitions. ------------------ Frank A+, MCP Windows 98 and NT Certified

If its greyed out then you need a different set of drivers. That's all there is to it! The drivers are what control that. If the treble and bass control was there before then I would use the native drive that come with 2k. ------------------ Frank A+, MCP Windows 98 and NT Certified

ATA 66/100 controller card automatically assign DMA channels. You should be able to confirm this on bootup for there will be a screen showing you hard drives and what DMA channel there on. This is part of the Promise controller's bios kicking in. You dont set DMA in 2000 for it does this automatically. A post was made earlier about a file to change which will work as well but you really need to leave 2000 alone. ------------------ Frank A+, MCP Windows 98 and NT Certified

After fully reading you message I assume this is a custom machine. **DUH** CMOS battery would be my first place to go as well. Maybe a bios flash after that. I would also reseat my ribbon and power cables as well. This should be no problem to fix! ------------------ Frank A+, MCP Windows 98 and NT Certified

All motherboard require a CMOS battery to save bios settings so that when you move your computer you wont have to reconfigure your bios settings. As for the hard drive problems, is this a pruchased OEM computer or custom? I need to know this first ------------------ Frank A+, MCP Windows 98 and NT Certified

You guys want to know why your systems are randomly shutting down or why you get caught in a reboot loop? The answer is that 2000 will shut itself down if there is a problem. Somewhere you have a screwy driver or 2000 doesnt like you hardware or bios settings. To turn this damn thing off 1. right click my computer 2. left click properties 3. left click advanced 4. left click start and recovery 5. uncheck auto reboot 6. ok 7. ok 8. reboot DONE

Podman, you must make sure you installing software for all users, which im sure you are aware of. The problem you speak of seems to me like the program or files are installed in the background as usual but the user signed on probably doesnt have rights to that software.

Wowexec is directly associated with your config.sys file. Win NT and 2000 both still use this file. You had an Initializtion problem with your config.sys file. You can get a new one from the i386 folder off the cd. I work for Dell Major Accounts. I am a trusted source.

After installing Dell's Live!Ware for 2000 when the system boots back up I get a message saying that a file is missing for AudioHQ. When I search for that file it is in the directory for the card. Where can I find a listing of where the files are suppost to go or where can I move this file to, to make it work.

Devcon32.dll is the file name but I found out that it goes in the C:\winnt\system\ directtory. But now I get other errors stating that When I try to run Playcenter an error comes up stating that the device is not configured properly and that I need to reinstall the device drivers. -

I too can get to your website with the ip you provided but when I trace your server with www.noyearlyfees.com I get 203.106.104.11 as you ip address. If I trace the two IP addresses you provided my tracer does not resolve your domain name. Check your settings again. The backbone server your connected too might not beable to resolve you at this time. -
A-Tech or Aztech? Where did you buy your system from?

Topa is wrong, you must turn off PnP in the bios. If you dont you are subject to errors Like config_intialization_error or just a blue screen telling you about the error and to reboot. Let the bios and the motherboard sort through all the cards and then let it pawn off whatever is left to the OS. Turn off all bios shadowing as well. Reset your configuration data for kicks.

Ok guys I need some help, I cant figure this out for nothing

Make sure that the bios is set for PnP no/off. Also make sure you motherboard is not allocating a com port for your modem, let the OS or modem do that. If your not using your serial ports move reserve the serial ports to any com port the modem will not use. Uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them. As far as Diamond goes, they are behind in the official drivers on that modem. I haven't checked lately but thats what they were saying a week ago -
I got the same error and what I found out is that either you have a device driver conflict (Meaning that the driver wasn't written for 2000) or you have a resource or device conflict. Remember to turn off PnP in the Bios and turn off all bios shadowing. Also pull one card from the board and see what happens. Go to safe mode and reinstall the culprit.
